Ok, I am a total newbie at this embroidery stuff and I have an older Bernina Deco 500 which uses the little .pes cards. It also has a 4x4 field. I purchased a card which is an OESD card .pes format (used) and when I put it into the machine all it does is beep at me. No designs. So I tried all the other cards and they are all fine. I checked on the net and the websites I found said it is compatible, but it says - 4x4 field or larger. Is that why my machine won't read it?? I don't know of anyone else who has a machine that uses the cards to see if its a card problem or that the pics are too big for the machine. BerninaUSA is looking into the problem as is OESD but no one has an answer except to test the card out on another machine. So, I come to the place that has the answers for me everytime - what do you think???

Wow, that stinks. I was going to suggest calling OESD. If they want you to try it on another machine, do they recommend where you might find one? Does the Brother or Babylock store have one in stock you could try? If the card was exposed to a magnet, it could be blank.

By the way, you may not want to hear this but OESD (embroideryonline.com) has some fantastic cards for your machine that have been retired for $39. You just go to their site, choose the designs section on the left When the design page comes up, look to the right in the top blue box for retired designs, choose that. There are several for the older Deco machine, but it is like a bargain basement; some packs are available in one format but not another. That is an excellent price. In the past they have sold the retired collections for $69-99.

You missed the OESD Block Party where they sell, one for one. (buy one, get one free.) Packs OR singles...you really NEED to check OESD once a week or so to get the bargains....

Lots of the design web sites have 'bargains'. Oregon Patch Works usually has one a week....

If you go to Yahoo, you'll find Finding Designs, New Designs and if you sign up for the sites you get free designs. Also they tend to give you web addresses for OTHER sites, where you can buy or get free designs all the time.

I was there too. I bought 6 licensed CD's 4 of which I had wanted a really long time at 3 for 99 dollars! I got some HR5 for $5.00 and some jeans thread. Pretty cool!!! They usually do the 2 for one about once a year. I spent som much on licensed cd's I didn't dare look at the downloads.

I got as very nice email from the lady I bought the card from (used from Kentucky), she has offered to refund me and I just need to ship it back. So I guess I will do that. The closest place that has brother or bernina is 45 min away and it'll be a bit before I can get there, so I think I'll just send it back. (sigh) I did check out the oesd site and saw all those cards on sale, well, now I will have an extra amount to spend with the refund on this card. I'm trying to get through a huge pile of stash before Christmas and I have three projects sitting on the table waiting for me to get at the embroidery machine which aren't included in the stash.

Bridesmom it sounds like you have already found a solution..just return the card. Not all Deco, Babylock, Simplicity, White, and Brother cards are interchangable between machines even though it is the same machine made by the same little Chinese guy. There are blocks in some cards to make them brand exclusive. However this would not be the problem since it is an OESD card. If other cards work on your machine it has to be the card. Memory cards can get damaged internally. Most common is just that the card has lost its charge therefore losing its stored information. There is nothing that can be done once this has happened.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

Thanks everyone, the card is on its way back to Kentucky and I am searching around for another one. I was kind of worried maybe that my machine just wouldn't take the OESD cards, but you've answered that Tom.
