My daughter bought a National Model 4000 sewing machine from a backyard sale and I'm trying to fine out who manufactured it. Can anyone help? I need to get some parts but I can not find out who made it. |

You might keep your eyes open at thrift shops, or sewing machine dealers. They might have one that you could pick up cheap to be used for part. Unfortunately, I can't help you with the machine's maker. You might even look on EBay. Sometimes off-brand machines can be found cheaply.

National is generic brand. The machine could have been made by a number of manufactures. If my memory serves me that particular madel was very similar to a Necchi model. Almost any multi-line dealer should be able to help. If you want to e-mail me I can verify that it is the model I am thinking of. If it is it is a freearm machine with a full rotary hook.

The National name was acquired many years ago by Allied Distributors out of Oak Park, MI, and they later changed their name to Allied-National. The machines that they put the National name on were made by numerous mfgrs, but all of them were Asian I believe. Bill Holman |

A sewing machine repair person should be able to look it up and help you locate the part, even if you don't have them do any work on the machine. Might be worth a call or two.
