The PE 150 is a very simple machine. If it will not pick up the bobbin thread it is one of ther following problems. (1)A bad needle (2) when threading you missed threading the take-up lever(the little chrome colored thing that goes up and down in the thread slot) (4) No thread on the bobbin (5) The sewing hook is out of time.

I left out two other possibilities. If the needlebar has slipped (try to turn the needlebar, If it won't turn it has'nt slipped). If the thread tension is excessively high like 8 or 9 it could make it skip but should pick it up most of the time.

Another probem with the PE 150's, is the bobbin doesn't always wing tight. I use pre wound bobbins in my machine and it took care of the problem.

Tom is right.. the pe-150 is a real little workhorse... I kept mine, even when I moved up to the ult...and at Christmas time, I use it right alongside the bigger machine... if you've rethreaded, changed needles, changed bobbins, adjusted the tension, cleaned the bobbin area well, and you still have the same problems.... the likelihood is your timing is off... know you don't want to hear that, but that's the likely cause.... quick question... what kind of bobbins are you using?? I have heard from various sources that after using the sideless prewounds or the carboard sided pre-wounds, they experienced problems with their timing... I use NEBS and haven't had any problem with them...

just my 2 cents...

I also have the PE-150 and have not had much luck with the prewound bobbins. I will put them on my bobbin winder and wind that tread onto the bobbins that came with the machine, not one problem now.
My machine sews great, love that little workhorse!!!!!!

Naomi... what kind of pre-wounds were you trying? I have since sold my 150 to CArla's sister in Kentucky, but I always used nebs with no difficulty... I do have to admit.. htere are definitely moments when I wish I had hung on to the 150, great little machine... but with the emp-6 and the ULT, I just couldn't justify hanging onto the 150...
