I have some super bright fabric from Laurel Burch. It is cats and dogs. My 15 yr. old grandson loves it. I am going to do something with it for him for Christmas. Any suggestions. All I can think of is a pillow case. He wouldn't wear it.

I think a pillowcase is a good idea...I often resort to pillowcases when I have a fabric I know none of the grandkids would want clothing made of, even as pajamas. Maybe a floor pillow for in front of the tv? Or a small quilt? MariLynntx

I just made my son a wedge pillow out of a piece of Dalre Earnhart Fleece I bought as a remnant. It turned out pretty good. I took it to my bed to check the stuffing & fell asleep so I guess it will work for him.

How about boxers? I love to sew with wild prints. My boys love them and no one else sees them!

I think boxers is a fantastic idea! Would he wear it under clothes? As sleepwear?

Mary,
Is he into art or anything like that.. My GS likes his sketchbook covers I make out of fabric for him.. He draws a lot, so I try to keep him supplied with the books to draw in.. And i do boxers and pillow cases also.. All my grands like placemats that are made with specialty fabrics.. They use them on an old sheet on the floor in front of tv to watch a DVD movie. (this is a treat for them periodically).. :bg: :bg:

An organizer for his school locker? Or for inside his closet door, to hang shoes? School book covers? A covered cork board for his room?

Yes, a covered cork board would be great for bright fabrics. I saw some at a craft show where they used bright kid fabrics and framed the edges with feather boas. Cute for a girl, but maybe you could use another trim for the edges for a boy.
They also had waste paper basket covers to match.

Throw pillows are always good. A teenager can't have enough.

Some other ideas:

men's style toiletry bag for travel/overnight trips
quilted slippers - you could use some of that non-skid fabric on the bottom
quilted floor 'mat'/rug for the side of his bed
bandanna
cushioned desk pad or one of those great portable reading/writing 'tables' that are cushioned on one side and have a flat wooden board on the other side so you can write/read in bed.

Note: there's some 'spa' accessory patterns in the November Burda WOF magazine that could be adapted to make the first 2 items.

When making covered corkboards it is good to staple one of those zippy see through pockets to it for small items - tickets, receits etc. Also crisscross ribbon in a matching colour over one section (funky drawing pins at the nodes) to make an area to put photos behind without pinning through them.

Wow, do you guys ever have some fantastic ideas, now I have all sorts of things that I can do for my guys! I like the boxer shorts and the boogie board shorts ideas, being my two 6'5 and 6'2 babies are in their late 20's, those would go over great!

Thank you everyone, super ideas. I have one more that came to me last night. I am going to make it into a Christmas stocking for him.
