You have won a year of free maid service. The maid comes twice a week. What she will clean is--dust and vacum all rooms, cleans the bathroom/s, cleans the kitchen (as in washing the floor, counter tops, cupboards(outside). Question is would you like this? Would you change anything about the way you keep house? Would you want to be there while she/he cleans? Summer

I would not like this. I don't like anyone cleaning my house but me. Ok maybe dh! But i wouldn't like a stranger coming in and trying to put this place straight. We lived overseas for a couple of years and everyone had a maid except me. They all thought I was nuts but it just freaks me out! Good question though. Can't wait to see what others say! |

Oh, man, would I love to have a house cleaner!! Where do I sign up?? I remember my mom used to run around the day before our house cleaner came and tidied up everything. I would be fine having someone come in and clean, and I don't even have to be there! In fact I'd probably go out and have coffee and come back to a clean house, that's be great. The only room that would be off limits would be my sewing room, except for vacumming. This would be such an incredible present - I hate housecleaning!

They probably wouldn't honour the free maid service...would consider that I have too much clutter. A few years ago my aunt hired a maid service to clean once a month. They said they would not dust as there were too many knick knacks....so she eliminated some...and she didn't have what I have.

I have been a cleaner - the good lady showed me how she wanted everything done down to the "clean these taps with this toothbrush and product" This didn't bother me - it was her house - what got me is that she [aid me for 4 hours to do the job the way she liked - but it only ever took me 2, so I left early (she was at work). I only ever felt guilty about that when she was there and I tried to slow down to make the job last the 4 hours....when she went on holiday she asked me to clean her mums house insted of hers - it was the same "clean these taps with this toothbrush" I would have a cleaner - I would probably tell them what I want done in each room and if they finish early - with a good enough job - then who cares? Who do I phone? love and kisses, Jan

No thanks. No cleaning crew for me. Hubby and I do just fine cleaning up behind us. I wouldn't want some stranger in my house either. Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

Oh I'd love a maid so would the kiddos that I tease are my free slave labor It would feel funny having a stranger in my home, and I don't think they'd like cleaning up after the 4 dogs but as I've gotten older the more I dislike housework there are so many other things I'd like to be doing

I would dearly love to have my home clean and neat ALL the time but I don't want someone else going thru my house. Maybe someone to scrub the floors, dust and vacuum. Oh yeah, and do the bathrooms once a week really well. Like Jan said, who do I call. LOL. MaryW

Bathrooms & dusting. Those are the 2 jobs that only get done if company is coming or I just can'tstand it anymore.

First off what made me think of this question is we opened a new Joann's and the sign up drawing sweepstakes was free maid service for a year. Anyways when I had my fifth child I came home from the hospital really sick. She was born in Jan and I was back in the hospital by mid Feb. So some of my friends and my folks gave me maid service for 4 months so I could not worry about the house as much. They all figured I needed more help with my children and someone else could do the house cleaning. For the first month I was to sick to care, but after that I found myself tidying up before she came. She was a wonderful women, would hum as she worked, always was most pleasant. I have to say I did appreciate the dusting and such, as I was always tired. About 15 years later a gf of mine had decided she wanted to no longer work for someone, so she decided to start her own house/office cleaning service. It took off and she needed help, so I would jump in and help her when I could. I have to say this was an experience. Offcie cleaning was far easier, usually not to many people were there and you just zipped through. House cleaning at times was a challenge. Most of the people were nice, but a few were not so nice. Some of the houses we went in, I was totally amazed at. She still has her business, but she is more the office worker than doing the actual cleaning. She has a few homes she does herself, but over the years I have heard some of the funniest stories to come out of her mouth. Now would I want a maid? Yep I sure would to dust and vacum, scrub the bathroom and kitchen. But my bedroom and sewing room would be off limits. Summer

Okay, I admit it--I do use a cleaning service and I LOVE IT! She's been cleaning my house for two years, so she's no longer a "stranger" going through my things. She changes the bed linens, dusts, vacuums, mops, cleans the kitchen and takes out the trash. She doesn't pick up our clutter. We go around and pick up most of it before she comes. Her job is to clean, not dejunk! She comes every other Friday, so every other Saturday, all the housework I do is laundry. It has freed me up to do so many other things that are much more important. And, as for how she cleans--no, she doesn't do everything the way I would, but as long as it gets done, I don't care what method she employs. I would encourage any of you who work full-time to use a service. You are just buying back your time. Shelly Moon

I would love to have someone come in and clean the bathroom and sweep, mop, dust and vacuum....but my main problem is clutter!! It is hard to find someone to come in a sort thru my clutter!! My DH says he would love to but then he would just toss in all in the trash! I don't consider that cleaning..... . I just have too much stuff for my house! Where can I rent a storage building?? mgf~ Blessings & Smiles

My best friend and neighbor in New Hampshire did house cleaning. I was working like 18-20 hours a day then and thoguht it would be nice to not have the house to worry with. My friend reluctantly took the job. Well, she quit the first week. Why? I cleaned the entire house so she would not think I was a pig. |

oh, I would love a maid. I am the world's worst housekeeper, I have too many enjoyable things to do to worry about scrubbing. All my knicknacks are in cabinets, so she can dust, and scrub her little heart out. Just stay out of my sewing room.
