Full Time Instruction Writer Position

Simplicity Pattern Company is looking for a FULL time instructional writer of Craft, Costumes and Home Dec to work on site in our New York office. (This is not a freelance position.)

Candidate must be able to provide clear instructions to accompany our technical illustrations for home sewing. These are the step-by-step instructions that appear on Simplicity's instructional guide sheets.

Requirements : Must have related sewing and pattern education to the Craft, Costume AND Home Dec industry with extensive knowledge of patterns, craft home dec and clothing construction background. NOT SELF TAUGHT.

Please note: We are presently looking for someone who can create clear home sewing instructions on a computer. THIS IS NOT INSTRUCTIONS FOR A TEXT BOOK OR MANUAL. We use FrameMaker software and follow the pattern and finished (home dec/craft/costume) samples and designer's notes provided with each design. The writer numbers the steps to supply the illustrator as to where there should be a drawing.

We also give a sewing instruction test at the interview to let you know the type of work that is involved and for us to see if you qualify.

If your experience and expertise meets the criteria above, please contact us at <email address removed for privacy>.
