Has anyone used these patterns yet? From the look of them, they are quite fitted and not for beginners.

Mary,
Theres a lot of discussion on Pattern Review re: these patterns and there are a couple reviews already written on on them. I personally have no experience with them. :bluesmile

From what I'm reading on PR, you absolutely need to make a muslin. This is stated on their website along w the caution that these are not for beginners. But they are very cool!

The designs are beautiful and they are presented in a way that might get younger women and girls interested in sewing.

I really liked the styles but I don't think I'll be making anything in the near future. Everything I looked at seems to be sold out.

I thought some of the patterns look really cute, thought my 18 & 15 dd would really enjoy some of the lines. I read on one posting board that the owner herself posted on that they got really swamped with orders. Their patterns took off much bigger then they originally thought they would, they have had to put in for my prints. Might be why you are seeing the sold out for right now, I knew they were pretty behind filling orders at one time, waiting for additional printing  Glad to see some new lines coming out through in the pattern companies, especially since my 15 dd has taken an interest in sewing

I'm 40something and would still wear a lot of what I saw. My choice of fabric might however be a little different than that of 15 to 25 young adult.

I'm forty something and fluffy and would love to make some of these. I hope they are not down too long.

I received an email update from them the other day saying they are getting caught up on their backlog. Also that they are switching to 'in house' packaging and investing in printing equipment.

Sounds like they are adjusting to the unexpected volume of orders that the buzz on their patterns created.

From the PR reviews i read, sounds like they are indeed quite fitted - I guess to better emulate Designer RTW. Personally, i find their styles really appealing.

However, since it sounds like the instructions aren't for beginners, the pricing is on the higher side and it could take a month to deliver to Canada :bluesad: - i don't think i'll be trying them too soon.

Think i'll work on tackling Burda World of Fashion magazine patterns for now....

I didn't mean that there weren't patterns that I liked too! :bluesmile It was just really great to see patterns that my teen girls liked almost everything. As someone else mentioned - bringing sewing to a level for another generation - I hope! :bluewink:

That's what I meant too, Laura.
I think you can probably get most of those looks from any of the big 4 patterns or other independents. But the presentation seems to be fresh and aimed at the younger women.

I received their 'Thanksgiving' newsletter email. They estimate they will be able to accept new orders starting Dec 1. Also - they are adding bag patterns to their lineup.

Speaking of new pattern companies -- did anyone see this one in Threads?

http://decadesofstyle.com/

I was impressed. They don't have a lot of patterns but what they have is pretty cool if you like vintage.
I haven't tried them yet, so I don't know if the patterns are difficult to work with.
