Here's the link for my sewing projects slideshow. You've probably seen several of the pics, but the last 3 shots are of my latest project. It's a Christmas dress for a friend's baby. It's in stretch velvet. It came out well, despite some challenges--I'd never really worked with a velvet, nor a knit. That narrow zigzag stitch works like a charm on the stretchy knits! sewing projects folder (http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Uc=10nskech.ccoek3wd&Uy=pkns8f&Ux=0) Andrea

Beautiful work! I think I have a similar pattern for a jumper and you've given me an idea of being able to use something other than cotton. Thanks! |

Thanks, all. Toad, I was surprised to find out that the pattern worked just as well with a knit as with a cotton woven. It's one of those $1.99 patterns you find on the racks The combination of knit, plus lycra, plus loft (stretch velvet) was a little more than I would go for in the future, but I'd certainly choose a cotton knit for this baby dress. I was hoping it would arrive for them in the mail by this afternoon. I'm waiting for the phone to ring
