It is quickly becoming the time when many people feel stressed out. The holidays seem to do that to even the most laid back people. We all feel stressed out at some time in our lives. It is part of life.
So the question for this week is:::::how do you cope with stress and what do you do to help get rid of it? Are you the type to keep real busy or the type to just stop doing things, do you get out for some excerise or just eat/drink more than you should? Jump into your sewing/crafts, or clean house like mad?

I used to walk outside all night...then I ate chocolate till it was making me ill. So I went to the Dr. Now I have some good drugs. I never had to take drugs for stress before (last Nov.) Before then I gardened (when I could) or made work for myself that involved being outside (in the dusk/night). I mowed all the neighobrs lawns one day. (5 including mine) Only one got angry with me. (she didn't say why, her lawn needed mowing and it wasn't like I did any harm , they're gone more than they're home). So I guess working myself till I'm too tired to move, de-stresses me...

I often wonder if I would survive without stress in my life-it seems to be so much a part of it, however, it does get worse around the holidays and it doesn't matter how organized or far ahead I am. I mostly try to spend a fair amount of time outside, working in a garden is best for me but since I'm in an apt. I now go to my daughter's and work in her flower beds! I also sew ALOT-that has always been my stress reliever when things get bad. I mostly try to stay as busy as I can so I'm worn out when I need to go to sleep.

I try not to stress like I did when I was younger -- with children running around. I sew a lot, exercise somewhat regularly and if it gets so bad I need drugs I have good friends that own a winery just a few miles from here. Gary makes the best Chardonnay in the world and I get a 30 percent discount. Beats the heck out of anything the doctor has to offer.

Ii doesn't seem to happen too often but I tend to dwell on what is stressing me out, eat too much, get grouchy and irritable which brings on headaches and neck tension until I can get it dealt with. Gardening is a great stress reliever, so is sewing, and venting on to a buddys shoulder helps too, (massages are also great) but if I'm getting stressed because I can't get to something like my sewing projects (which is how I am now) I mostly get irritated. I love my DH dearly, but sometimes I just want to go sew and not have to feel like I have to sit with him on the couch watching TV which I DO NOT enjoy, or go here or there with him, and it seems like this past month, he's constantly underfoot (venting, venting) and wanting me to do something with him when all I want to do is sew right now. (whoa, didn't realize I was that stressed about it :re: ) I feel better now, thanks guys!

I find if I vacuum, clean closets, something physical it helps a lot. Gardening is not in the picture here. Ground is froze. I want to move next to that winery Dorothy was talking about. I know that would help a lot. :bluewink:

I like the idea of the winery as well, but I'm more into reds :bluewink:
but... like many of you stress is my life. Sooooo I try to carve a little personal time, read, sew, veg, surf the web :whacky: . Actually last sat night I went to a girlfriends house and 5 of us drank wine, chatted and hung out in the hot tub (it was -2C!!) but it was sooooo nice. Her hubby kept the kids away in it was like we were all young again!

Jeanette, that sounds like heaven!

Bottle of red and a slushy video is a fairly good move.
Sex is a great destresser - so long as there are no emotional side issues assosiated with it
Exercise pumps up the endorphins but can I be bothered - see me on the computer....
Stress tends to leave me not sleeping well, then I lie awake worrying why I am not sleeping - so my best bet is to get up, have a cup of tea and read - and try to keep my feet warm so that when I go back to bed I can sleep.
