No not my head! Yarn. I have started spinning since the colder weather has set in. I'm working on yarn for knitting my Molly a dog sweater. We like to snowshoe and she needs one to keep her warm. Here is a picture to the yarn. I'm plying it with an acrylic black yarn. Handspun Yarn (http://www.yesalbum.com/v001/SailorLiz/FiberProjects/spun_yarn.jpg) Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

That is so yummy I could eat it! Fabulous colour Liz and love the slubby texture. The black seems a little harsh plyed with it to me - I would have used a more sympathetic colour - cream? NOT a good colour for a dog jumper however! Dark Brown? just a thought - you know best how these things make up
love and kisses, Jan

MGF , How much fiber? Hmmm... that is not an easy question. You can make yarn from very little, but it would not really be enough to knit or crochet anything much except maybe a swatch? I'm still very knew to this craft and I have been working on a very large garbage bag 1/2 full of this particular wool. It is in a very thick roving. If you go to my link below and under fiber projects, there is a picture of some of the bags of roving that I had processed for spinning. So far I have spun about a 1/3 of the dark wool and I've only have knitted a qtr of her sweater. I have not measured how much yarn I have made so far. Jan, Yes, I thought of using a different color for Molly. But she is part black lab and she sheds a lot. I figured with the black, her fur would blend right in. The slubbiness is my from my inexperience with the craft. Since those pictures my yarn seems to be getting more consistent. The pattern I'm using for her sweater calls for a very chunky yarn. I'm really starting to enjoy this craft. (It can be very mesmerizing). I hope to be able to spin some more over the long weekend. Take Care, Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Slubby is good - never be afraid of the slub! There are not mistakes, there is creative design. The black makes perfect sense!
