I just bought a wand applicator to apply crystals, pearls, etc to my sewn creations. However, when I got home I realized it does not hold the glue itself but just heats up. When I called Fabricland to ask about it they said I would have to buy the specially-made crystals and pearls, etc that have the glue on the back of them. I don't really want to do that. I want to use what I have at home in my stash. This is what I bought: http://www.envi.ca/prodSC6.htm (bottom of the page) I wondered about putting another type of glue on crystals I have at home and having the gun heat them up??? May work, may not and I'm a little leery of trying it right now. Does anyone else have one of these? Do they work as well as I've been told? Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

I have the Kandi Kane wand and I love it. it's so easy to use and the crystals STAY ON through washing and drying!!! I would be very careful about using any crystals not designed for the wand, because it is so hot and could melt something not made to withstand the heat. Have fun with it! photos.yahoo.com/greendragondesigns

I too have the Kandi Kane wand! I use the little crystals & nailheads made for the wand. I have made several things for my dd that is now 6 years old, have added these to jeans, tops, etc. They have been through many washes, tough play, have not lost a single one! And she loves the sparkles!

I tried to buy one of these from the US but because I am in Canada it seemed impossible unless I gave my credit card # by e-mail (which I never do) I forget the name of it but it is trademarked by Marie Osmond and comes with Swaravski(sp?) crystals. Are they pre-glued? Or does her applicator apply glue? Has anyone bought one ? Lise |

I believe they all use the pre-glued crystals. Have you tried Ebay Canada? I've seen the Kandi Kane wands on there. If you have Paypal that might be an option for you.

Marie Osmond is working with OESD. OESD is partnered with Bernina. My wand was purchased at my Bernina dealer and it is an OESD wand. It is most likely the same on that bears the Osmond trademark. I LOVE IT!!!! I've put it on all kinds of fabrics for adults and children. My dgd's garments have washed in all kinds of water, large loads many many times and I haven't lost a single crystal yet! The only one I did loose was when I left one too long on the applicator and dried out the glue so it didn't even stick to the garment. I've never used anything but the Swar..ski (whatever spelling) crystals that are preglued. If you've ever tried setting rhinestones and getting the prongs down, I can tell you this is just too cool and you don't have to worry about them snagging your fabric! I bought another brand that was not crystal but I'm afraid to try it.

I went to the site you recommended and think I will buy some stuff from them. I think this would be a big improvement over glue-it-yourself stuff! I always end up cussing with glue everywhere! Marilynntex

Marilynntex Are all wands and crystals created equal ? I would like to work with the Swaravski pre-glued crystals. Does the Kandi Kane do this or is it for the crystals which need to have the glue applied to them ? Any information on this subject will be most welcome. Also does anyone know of a Canadian supplier ? Lise |

I have the Kandi Kane wand, and I use the pre-glued Swarovski crystals. I love them! I think any of the wands will work with the pre-glued crystals, you just have to make sure you have the right wand tip for the size of crystal. photos.yahoo.com/greendragondesigns

There are several wand types that will work - Kandi Kane is one, Bejeweler, the Marie Osmond, etc. They are all basically the same they heat up to make the glue on the jewel heat up & stick to the cloth. Make sure it comes with different attachments for the different size jewels or nailheads you may want to use. Then you can use any jewel or nailhead that is already pre-glued with you wand. Here is Sue's Sparklers (http://www.suessparklers.com/) she sells Bejewlers. I know there are allot more places!

I have been researching these applicators as there are different types - all I can see is that some heat up faster and also the price. Very pricey here in Canada at Stores in Edmonton but on Kandi Kane site quite cheap but hate to buy from States (duty,S&H). Tried the site recommended above but they only sell wholesale and need $150.00 order. Has anyone found a site/store in Canada? jlw |

jlwdoby, I live in Lethbridge(south of you) and paid 34.99 for mine. It's a Lorna Decorative touch wand. Decided if I wanted one I would have to pay the price. Even if they sound alot cheaper in the states, by the time you figure exchange, shipping and handling it's likely pretty close. Unless you are going there anyway or know some one to ship it to you, it's about the only choice you have. By the way this wand has 8 appilcation tips that come with. |

:I figured that I would have to pay the price but then when checking the shops in Edmonton found that they do not carry the embellishments or if they do (as in one shop) were really ! expensive - 5 cents each for crystals and none of the silver or gold - where do you get yours? |

I bought some embellishments at the same store I got the wand. Didn't buy any crystals but some other little things. They are 5.99 for 144 pcs. They are put out by "Lorna" Hot fix embellishments. Next time I'm in town I'll check the price and availability and let you know. They are likely around the same price as Edmonton but maybe have different kinds. There is an site on the back of the pkgs. for ideas ect. I haven't checked it yet but here it is in case you want to. www.L-Orna.com |

The one I bought was (during a weak moment) from Fabricland during one of their 50% off sales. I didn't realize when I bought it that you had to have the special hot-fix crystals for it. It was just under $15 on sale but only takes 3 sizes of crystals. I figured I should start with this one and see how much I use it. Unfortunately I don't have any little girls to sew fro right now so I may have to wait to see if I get another grdaughter. I wanted to use my own jewels from old pins, etc. but that isn't going to happen. The crystals at Fabricland are a ridiculous price - $8 for a very few crystals so I didn't even bother. I may order some Hot-fix ones from another source. Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.
