Hi...I just joined. This looks like it's a wonderful board for all things sewing! I'm hoping to get some help with my machine. I bought a ESE2 a couple of years ago and haven't had any time to play with it and now I do. It seems to be infected with gremlins though...It will sew fine and then will jam. Usually this is something that happens after I've been on it a while.

Also, I have the Palette 2.0. Is there a way of increasing the size of a design? Like to fit the larger hoop? Or is this something that will never happen?

Does anyone know anything about digitizing? On the Palette? All I can get it to do is draw ugly lines... Sigh...

Anyway, thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
If I can't be a good example, I'll just have to be horrible warning!

A lot of jams are because the machine was threaded with the presser foot down. The only time the tension disks are open is when the foot is up. Try that and see if that is the problem. Since it happens after you have been sewing a while, that would be my first suspicion.

Thanks.

Now I have a new problem...Thread is gathering up on the backside so I figured that there was something in the bobbin race...took the needleplate off and then promptly lost one of the screws. Grrrrr.... It's just not my day! Anyway, my old machine (that someone is borrowing) would work fine without 1 of the screws. I am assuming that this is not the case here? And why would it be doing that to begin with? No, there wasn't anything in the race....

When you start to sew you need to be sure and bring up your bobbin thread and then place both of the threads under the presser foot and to the back left. Some machines require that you HOLD the threads to the back left for the first few stitches to keep them from being drawn back into the hook system. On many machines it is best if you start a quarter inch (or maybe a little less) on the fabric rather than at the edge. It may gather at the beginning if you get too close. (Just a few ideas.) I also start my machine with the take up lever in the highest position and I use the hand wheel. Both of these things can also help avoid that problem.

Babylock machines only like "finishing touch" bobbin thread when embroidering. I believe that is part of the problem if you are not using it. Let me know. I had one and loved it so email me and we can talk. email me at <email address removed for privacy>; I will get it quicker.

:coffee2: I do beleive this is an old thread. I just joined a day or two ago and I have the Babylock Esante Ese 2 and I love it. I got it for Christmas last year so I've had it a few months. Mine loves the Nebs prewound bobbins. I have had trouble with thread breaking and such when I was winding my own bobbins and had trouble with the top thread breaking too. Ever since I got the Nebs, my machie stitches like a dream. When I thread mine, I raise the foot as high as it will go and then give the thread a gentle pull to make sure it is going between the disks like it is supposed to. I also make sure the bobbin is in correctly. If it is isn't then you might wind up with a bird nest big time. I live the decorative stitches in mine also. Once in a while I forget to raise the feed dogs when I want to sew. I use it for the decorative stitching and embroidering. I use my good ol Simger for my regular sewing. Only problem I have if trying to stitch a decent FSL design on my machine. Can't figure out why for the life of me. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay
