I made 6 quilts for gifts this year. What was more fun was making placemats!! I love them and my friends and family use them so that was really fun. And then I was at a quilting show and someone made a wine bag out of the colored pet screen (screen play bags use them) which came out WONDERFUL...a little something to carry to someone's house when you are invited for dinner. I made some up with wine bottle labels, or grapes orwhatever, nothing that specific to a holiday. I get a kick out of how fun it was.

I really should be blushing this year, So date I only finsihed 2 wallhangings and 1 large wallhanging, 1 quilt for DD's collage dorm room, 2 small childrens quilts.
In BOMs I have one to finish up, and two more will be ready in the early part of next year.

This year has been really hard at getting supplys needed, with everthing becoming higher ( gas, food etc) DH job on the line.. because we have no quilt shops around here, I have to go to Joann's in Texas to buy batting.. and I am out of my roll.. so quilt making has been very slow this year..
Hopfully next year I can get down to Jaann's and get some batting.

New to the forum and enjoying all the talk!

Let's see, I made four 18x20 embellished Crazy Quilt pillows (won't do that again, almost took me a year!) and an embellished Crazy Quilt Christmas Stocking. I am really looking forward to making some things for myself after the first, and looking forward to a CQ RR that will begin in January. Love making things, but sheesh!

Have a great day!

I've almost completed a log cabin quilt in Christmas fabric. Just hand sewing the binding. Started it 2 years ago January and had it all machine quilted except for the border. Was making it for my self but this summer my sister saw it and loved it. So I'm going to give it to her when I see her on Christmas day. Also, I'm working on quilted pin cushions with thread catchers for some of my aunts. When I have one completed I will post pictures. This year my New Years resolution will be to finish all my quilting UFOs before starting another project....probably will end up just like all the rest of the resolutions...will get thrown out the window (hee, hee) :bluewink:

You can tell by my UFO's that I will be sewing right up to the last minute. :bg:

Do tea cosies count? If so, 4. I've been mostly knitting this year.

I've made 4 quilted purses, one knitting bag and I'm working on a quilted play mat for my grandson, and two wall-hangings that may not get done til after Christmas. I do what I can when I can and if it doesn't get done - Oh well!

Last night I finished the last in the line of 6 pincushions and threadcatchers...when I get a chance I will try to post pictures. I think they turned out great. I hope the recipients will like them!

Ok Judy, first of all I LOVE your pincushion/thread catcher. How does the pin cushion stay put? How is it attached to the thread catcher? AND HOW hard is the pattern, or did you make it up? It is so adorable and useful.

There are two tabs sewn into the pincushion with the rough side of the velcro attached. The soft side of the velco is on the thread catcher. The pin cushion is padded with batting on the upper section, I have sewn in another piece on the inside to keep the plastic stuffing beads (got them at Walmart) on the bottom half. I bought a pattern developed by a quilter here in Ottawa but during the making of it...I made my own changes, e.g. put more plastic beads (3 cups instead of 2 suggested) to make it hold the weight of the thread catcher. Also, I find the thread catcher a little too long and made it shorter in order to use less of my special fabric. Gotta go as I am taking off for the holidays. When I come back I will get in touch to give you more info.

Happy Holidays!

Adva they are like the teeniest tiniest oven gloves that you can find that you use in one hand with 2 fingers in one bit and a thumb on the other for lifting potlids and so on.

Judy, those thread catchers and pin cushions are just adorable! I have been wanting to work up something like that but for my serger to catch all the material. The "catch all" on the serger is just not big enough and end up with more on the floor than anywhere else.

Great job!!

JK, I saw this serger companion on the Janome website...it has a large pocket to catch the scraps. Don't know if this is what you are looking for or you could adapt to make the type of pocket that you want...
http://www.janome.com/project_show.php

Janome website has free projects. It was here that I first saw a pincushion and thread catcher but it seems much more complicated than the pattern I used. It also has a magnet in it...which I don't like as I have a computerized machine.
