I found a pattern online to make fleece mittens for my boys (3, 2, 1) and I will be going to the store very briefly here to pick up the fleece. My question is: What kind of fleece would be best for this project. There are a few kinds. We live in Chicago and it can get sorta cold. So what would be the best type of Fleece. THANKS for your help!!

I am sure I will probably only need 1yd or less, seeing as their hands aren't too big.

Microfleece or Polartec will pill the least.

100 weight is lighter weight, 200 heavier, etc., 300 is the heaviest weight and warmest.

I would put some ripstop nylon on the outside to stop the wind from blowing through the mittens or use windstop fleece.
