I think this will be a fun one. My daughter envisions a "princess bedroom." We've painted the walls Bibbidy Bobbidy Blue and the ceiling Cinderella's Glass Slipper (lavender). My husband made plain wooden cornices, which I painted lavender to match the ceiling. Now, can you picture Cinderella's gown? Can you picture the panniers at her hips? I want to create panniers like that flanking the cornices. I thought I could mount some kind of ring in the center of the cornice to gather the fabric, and find a way to fold the yardage and then glue or staple the ends to the sides of the cornice. Does anyone have any tips on this? Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

I was wondering if you are doing it out of a fabric and not a netting, could you not make a long tube of fabric, gather it at the top and stuff it with tissue paper to make it pouf out at the bottom?? You'd still probably have to tack it at the sides. I'm thinking of those poufy valances that people put over their windows. Whatever you do - it sounds like it's going to be adorable and you definitely need to post some pictures of the finished product.

will do, Laura! Oh, tissue paper--I forgot about that. I'm not quite thinking of the poofy valences, but I thik with a little tweaking on that idea, I can probably come up with what I'm going for! I'm sort of picturing the sides of the cornices as a pair of hips, or imaginary waistlines across the cornices... I know that is hard to picture. But I think the paper could work. I was hoping nobody would recommend a wire hoop apparatus, like they used in those 18th century dresses. That's going too far for a sparkly princess room!!
