In Sept. I joined a Block of the Month group at a local quilt shop. Last month's block was a poppy but I didn't really like the block. Instead I decided to do my own design. My shower curtain has poppies all over it. I used my digital camera to take a picture of a poppy on the curtain. Then on the computer I resized the picture and printed it out. Used the picture to create my pattern. I was surprised at how well it turned out. Here's a link to pictures.

Judy,

Very pretty! I think it is fun incorporating the computer and digital pics to make a block.
Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Very nice Judy! Took the liberty of looking at your quilts too-they are wonderful. Love the wonky border one!

Thanks esrun3....Yep the wonky border lap quilt was made in the first quilting class that I took. That's when I learned everything I had been doing wrong. :bg: When we did the signature block swap, I posted this picture for everyone to see what we could do to put together the blocks. We were all worried about getting that perfect 12.5" block. With this type of border no one will notice if the blocks are not exactly the same size. Still have mine to put together...when I do I will definitely post a pic. After Xmas my plan is to complete my UFO's.

Just thought I would mention that the purse I made is for the Canadian Quilt Show that will be held in Ottawa in May 2006. I don't know all the details but a quilter provided the pattern and asked people to make and donate a purse - decorated as you choose - for the quilt show. Don't know who will be receiving them but she needs over 200. This is the one that I made. Who will receive it is anybody's guess!

Your quilts are beautiful Ruthie. I don't know which one I like the best they are all so pretty! :-) What do you mean by angling? How did you ever make that quilt without making triangles?
