This is a fun e mail I get a few times a year with different questions. I thought it might be fun here. just copy the entire message. then paste & change the answers to your own. 1. When do you put your decorations up? As soon after Thanksgiving as I have time 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Turkey 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? The magic of everything under the tree Christmas morning ( It was empty when we went to bed) 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't think I have yet 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes. We go to the in laws . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Something with frosting 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I love it. as long as I can stay inside. 12. Can you ice skate? No . 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I can't pick just 1. but anything My husband picks out by himself has been great. 14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? spending time with ALL of my family 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?Cherry dessert. 16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Setting everything out after the kids are in bed. probably won't happen this year as I am always in bed before them. 17. What tops your tree? Angel 18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? Giving 19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol? Dearest Santa by Bobby Vinton but I love all Christmas music. Barb

The weekend after Thanksgiving unless something ike rain gets in the way then as soon as possible after that. 6.What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Baked sweet potatoes with brown sugar and toasted marshmallows on top. 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Watching my brother build me a crib for my baby that my mom made the clothes for and him convincing me that he was building a new kind of basket for my dad's pigeons. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Don't Remember 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes. Normally a movie for the kids to watch . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Double Stuff Oreos if I don't feel like baking cookies otherwise chocolate chip or oatmeal. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I love it!!!!!!! 12. Can you ice skate? Only tried once and I held on to the wall the whole time . 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? The crib and doll from favorite memory 14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Getting through them without a major meltdown 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?Pumpkin Pie with Graham Cracker crust 16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Shopping the day after clearance sales, and driving around looking at lights 17. What tops your tree? Angel 18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? Giving 19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol? I love all Christmas songs. I really enjoy "Grandma got Run Over by a Reindeer" and pretty much the whole Elmo and Patsy Christmas colection. Gina

What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? my own stuffing - It would be my dad's stuffing if he were still around to make it!! 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? My mother flocked some of the trees and set a light up that turned with different colors. I loved sitting in the quiet watching it all alone. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Santa is the truth! 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes. . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Poor Santa doesn't get cookies at our house. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I love it as long as the driving conditions are still decent. 12. Can you ice skate? I don't know about now, but I grew up going to the outdoor rink nearly every night about two blocks from my house. . 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? No favorites-my mom always tried her best to get the one thing I really wanted. I've tried to do that for my kids. Of course, they know there is a $$ limit  14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? My family. 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Homemade carmels. 16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Christmas Eve at my grandparent's house with all my cousins. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? When my big sister showed me the gifts in mom's closet. I was about 6 years old. 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? None now that the kids are older. Used to be sugar cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? love it as long as it melts by the afternoon 12. Can you ice skate? No . 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? A fake diamond ring that my son bought me at a secret santa store at school when he was in kindergarten. He wrapped it himself and kept it a secret until Christmas morning. He was so proud of himself. I still get it out each Christmas. He's 17 now. 14. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I always knew Santa didn't exsist. 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Never did that. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Like it as long as I don't have to drive in it or live in it for a long time. 12. Can you ice skate? No . 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? A pin of Frosty the Snowman, which has a blinking red nose (uses button batteries and still works) that my sister got me when she was in HS. She's 44 now. 14. Do you hang mistletoe? we hang a Yule Ball which is made up of mistletoe and holly 5. When do you put your decorations up? Outside when the weather is nice in Dec, usually the first weekend of Dec. Inside a little at a time. 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? A french toast that we make for the morning. 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Having my brother there on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Don't remember 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No . 10. Being so excited I couldn't sleep, I still am like that, I'm the first one up every year, even before the kids. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Don't remember 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? With having a blended family, we open presents whenever we can get the most of us together, so it could be anywhere from Dec 20-27 . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Icing cookies (a spice cookie cutout with icing on it) 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it, for Christmas Eve day then it can go again. 12. White outside and colored on the Tree, it came already strung with lights. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? YES 5. When do you put your decorations up? Around the first of the Month. Putting the tree up while watching White Christmas is a given. 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Turkey, Ham. Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Waking up Christmas Morning and finding a Christmas Tree with Gifts under it!!! Santa always brought our tree with him on Christmas Eve. We always had to wait until my Dad went down to make sure that Santa had come, ie so he could plug in the lights. Then he would come get us. When my kids where little, I loved doing for them what my parents did for us as kids. Hopefully it will carry on with my Grandkids someday. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? What's there to learn? Don't YOU believe in Him? 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No, always on Christmas Morning . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Something with frosting on it. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! 12. Can you ice skate? Not anymore, wouldn't dare try either with my luck, I'd break something!!!!!! . 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? The year I got my Tammy Dolll and her whole family. My Mom was sick that year but she managed to make TWO GIANT BOXES packed full of doll clothes, I still have the dolls and clothes to this day. 14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Christmas Eve service at our Church, my Parents favorite part was lighting the candles, the smell of the Pine Boughs and singing Silent Night. They have been gone, 21 and 10 years now and to this day I still cry when I hear Silent Night. They are Happy tears because I remember just how beautiful the Church is at that moment. I've always thought, what a beautiful way to celebrate the birth of Christ. 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Homemade sugar cookies with frosting!!!! My girlfriend makes the best!!!!!! 16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas Eve service and then on the way home driving around looking at the lights on the houses. Once home watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation as a family!!! 17. What tops your tree? A Glass pointed Tree Top, that is white and gold. 18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? Both!!!!! 19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol? Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel, White Christmas, Carol of the Bells, Silent Night, Noel, Halleujah Chorus 20. We used to open the ones from the out of town relatives on Christmas Eve....my kids are all grown and moved out now but I still open from my sister on Christmas Eve . 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Sandtarts. A very think sugar cookie. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I love it but we don't get it here in Phoenix! 12. Used to be coloured, then white, got tired of white so switched back to coloured. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? no 5. When do you put your decorations up? Usually first week of Dec. 6. Decorating the tree with all my 7 siblings plus any extra kids Mom and Dad had taken in that had no place to go....I usually fell into it! 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? The girls used to get to open one each - new pj's and colouring books, etc. but now they are grown and gone so we seldom are all here Christmas eve. . 10. Just after Beethovans birthday - dec 16th - bake a cake, book a party. 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? all the cheese and nibbles and buffet things. 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? The lumpy weight of a stocking on your feet that wasn't there when you went to bed - and most of it is down the stairs as Dad was somewhat drunk when he put the stocking in our rooms.. 8. What, that he is an invention of Coca Cola?(He used to wear green up until the 1930's and coke got hold of him) Blue Peter taught me about St Nicholas the Byzantene Bishop when I was about 7. 9. After 3 years on the wish list Tony finally got me some sewing stuff - he thought it was a lame pressie, he likes to buy jewelry. Sorry, there is a Dr Who special on this Christmas - hasn't been one for 25 years and it was William Hartnell! Tony and I snuck out of our wedding reception to go down the road to watch Dr Who....I bought him a Dalek once ( and a Klingon warship - how good a wife am I?) I loved Dr. Who when he was on the local PBS station. We -- the whole family -- would watch for 30 minutes every evening after dinner. That was many years ago. I think the actor was Tom Baker? Is that right? They were old reruns from the 60s or 70s I think. He was the one with the long scarf. Dorothy |

He was very cool. There was a blond fellow that followed him but they changed the format and showing times to a couple hours on Saturday and we were often too busy to see them. That was before the days of recording programs for later. I'd like to get copies of those old Tom Baker shows. I'm sure they are available. Dorothy |

Jan your merangue covered in ice cream, rolled in chopped nuts and served under flaming brandy is called Baked Alaska here in the states. I'm sorry I've been away for so long and have missed out on all the Christmas stuff you all have been having fun with. I'll try to pop in more often, I'll try my best. Here lately I feel like my butt is glued to the seat of my pickup truck. But I think my Dear sweet Sister In Law, my husbands sister has put a stop to that problem, she and her husband surprised us with a freezer so now I can go to the grocery once a week instead of everyday. I've also been washing clothes and vaccuming so much I'm beginning to think I'm the maid at the Hilton. DIL brings over her basket of clothes starts the first load and returns several hours later to CHANGE then over and of course all the clothes are folded and ready to carry home. I know I shouldn't do them I should just let them for her to do but it's all over the laundry room and I dont' want the clutter so I do them to get rid of them. I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

I try to put my decorations up right after Thanksgiving, but often they don't go up until around the 15th.. 6. my favorite holiday dish is oyster stew... 7. my favorite holiday memory as a child is creeping down the stairs on christmas morning to see all the presents under the tree.. 8. Like many others here, I'm not sure I have ever totally not believed in santa.... hehe... there's a part of me that will always believe... 9. I read that wrong thought you meant ice cream covered with Meringue.Now these are my answers to these Christmas Questions, here goes: 1. egg nog or hot chocolate??..... Well, this is a little late, but I'll jump in here. Let me preface my comments by saying I took my medication a bit a go and it's kicking into gear as I type. If I don't make much sense..blame it on the meds 1. egg nog or hot chocolate??..... HOT CHOCOLATE 2. 99% of hte presents under the tree are wrapped... Yes, they've been wrapped and unwrapped already 3. white lights on the tree, on the house...white lights on the tree amd other places around the house. Also blue and white lights outside the house (blue lights were on sale, so I bought them without knowing that blue and white lights are supposed to be for Jewish homes that are celebrating Hannakuh. So while I think it looks beautiful myself, I'm sure all my neighbors think I'm Jewish. Heh. My father is taking great glee with this whole thing and quite often he will knock on my door and there he will begin to break into a vocal rendition of "Hava Nagela...hava nagela...". It is kinda funny! 4. Don't hang mistletoe - I don't even know where to get it and besides me and the cats, theres not much else to kiss around here. Why bother? I'll just give the kitties a kiss now and then. 5. Decoraction up during the weekend after Thanksgiving and if thats not possble for some reason, then the first weekend in December. The decorations come down after New Years. I love the tree..its soooooooo hard for me to take it down each year. I think I need to install some white light in the house to give me that same warm feeling year round (like on a plant or something,eh). 6. my favorite holiday dish is all of it...i don't really have a favorite dish, i like steak, turkey, etc. I enjoy the wonderful combinations of things on your plate for a festive holiday meal. Oh, and I especially like dessert 7. Unfortunately, I didn't have the greatest childhood, so I don't have too many fond memories of christmas as a child. I'm having to allow myself to "be" a child now and enjoy the season. So my favorite memory was the frist tree I decorated with a friend of mine. I was living with her and her husband and all three of us got together to do a tree. We put on music, we had hot chocolate...and man...it was fun....I have really positive warm memories from that. . 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? My mom told me from birth on that there was no such thing as Santa..that he was fake. So I did not ever believe in him. 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Nope, we wait till Christmas Day. I'm sure it could be arranged to open earlier if someone wasn't going to be able to be there or something, but generally we all wait till the Christmas Day 10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? None, I don't believe in Santa, remember? 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it, was quite into skiing until I fell and fractured my left leg in lik 9 places. Can't ski anymore  12. Yes, I can ice skate. I'm not a Michelle Kwan or anything, but I can hold my own, do some spins, move around the ice with relative ease. 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? My embroidery machine, got it this year 14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being able to be with my close friends; seeing joy in people's faces 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pumpkin Pie 16.
