Ok, I'm going to do it, my first quilting attempt is on the table ready to cut. I found an Ohio Star table runner that I'm going to do for my SIL, but before I cut it out I have a question - is there such a thing as a Texas Star?? I know there is a Lone Star, but that looks way to complicated for a first timer. She's originally from Texas, relocated to California, thought it'd be nice to do a Texas one, so, any answers?

Hi Laura, I found a few links to 'Texas' blocks. Texas Star (http://www.blockcentral.com/blocklibrary.shtml) Texas Treasures (http://www.quilterscache.com/S_U/TexasTreasuresBlock.html) Texas Rose (http://www.quilterscache.com/S_U/TexasRoseblock.html) Take care,

I googled for "texas star" quilt block. I've discovered that the Texas Star is also known as Lone Star, Radiant Star and Star of Bethlehem. Texas Star is an 8 pointed star. Here is a link for those types of quilts http://jwilson.coe.uga.edu/QuiltWebsite/texasstar.html But I did find this link which has a block that is called the "Texas Star" but it is the same as the Ohio Star. http://www.blockcentral.com/blocklibrary.shtml So you can do like quilters do...use a block and name the quilt whatever you want. Good luck TTFN from

There are several "TeXas Stars", according to Barbara Brackman's Blockbase CD. One has a hexagon center that is more easily recognised in Texas as THE Texas Star. I am sure anything would be fine. I do not know how to attach px here, tho I do see the "Insert Image" up above. TeXas |

It seems that 'texas star' is the same as 'lone star', doesn't it? Here is a pattern for a simpler star: http://quilting.about.com/library/bl_lonestariimage.htm (you can even trace the pieces of the star on fusible web, press onto fabric, and applique) or you can use this applique: http://quiltnsew.com/images/freepatterns/fptn_lone_star.gif Adva Price
