I was embroidering on my new Janome 11000....LOVE IT...(well I did till tonight). It makes a horrible sound, the needle is bouncing up and down and it stops. (I'm doing some last minute stuff...like WE always do around the holidays). The top thread has wound around my bobbin case, pulled it OUT of position and ate it. ( truly it's NOT just scratched). So my gift will be very late (it's to a fav waitress in our fav restaurant). And I may have damaged my machine....well. -I- didn't actually do it...the machine did....
I was so angry my husband said he could feel the heat comming off my body.
(I'm pretty sure I blew a fuse this time  )(then of course he says, why not use the other machines I have...I would BUT THE HOOPS DON'T FIT.
You can't start on one and end on another...even if they use the same format. He didn't get it, but he will tomorrow if I have to have my dealer BEAT it into him). (men.... :nc: )

(I'm not even sure we have parts in for the new machines yet. and no...the bobbin cases from my other Janome's won't work either...tried that already).

I'm thinking of having a drink....anyone wanna join me ??? Tequila, Rum, Vodka, red wine.....name yer poison...

Kath ::heavy sigh::

Oh dear...soo very sorry...at least I can shut my machine off and leave it in it's room, alone...

Maybe if when you look at her, imagine her head blowing up (like in Attack of the Martians) and while you're smiling at the thought, she thinks you're having a good time and you can ignore her and her comments... :re:

Sympathy to both of you Kath and SewHappie. I'll join you in a southern comfort and eggnog as soon as I can, I'm finishing up the last of 5 nights of insanity at the hospital, it's crazy here, and I will be so glad to go home!

It's my DD's MIL that we are having to deal with. The same one that was causing problems with all the Wedding Plans. She has got it in her head that ALL HOLIDAYS are to be spent with HER at HER house. Starting at Noon on the 24th all the way in to late PM on the 25th. Now mind you that the kids are the ones doing the driving, not her or us. It's over an hour for them from their apt to his hometown, and then another hour + just to get here from his parents house. She "TELLS" my SIL that HE WILL BE PLAYING his horn for X-mas Eve Service. THEN she pulls the "Dinner will be at 1PM and everyone is to be there" number. SO we will be lucky if we get to see them for 2-3 hours on Christmas.
My DD has had WW#3 with her DH about this and has informed him that HE WILL be informing his mother that she HAS to share them with HIS WIFES FAMILY, that she can not have all the Holidays.
I told DD that she needs to nip this in the bud right now or it will cause bigger problems down the road. She will have to be the one to put her foot down, as SIL is afraid to stand up to his mother. I asked DD if she remembers how her Aunt on my DH's side was always trying to pull this same stuff, which she does, and told her that I had to do the same thing there that she has to do with her MIL. So I know just what she's having to deal with and that DH & I are here for support. If MIL gets her nose bent, oh well, she has to learn to play nice and share with the rest of us.

I had the best Mother-in-Law in the world. She died last year and I sure do miss her for Xmas. It was her holiday, she always went all out decorating and getting just the right gifts for every one.

My DD told her boyfriend she wasn't going to his parents on Christmas, that the day was reserved for her family as her brothers have adapted to going to the in-laws on Christmas Eve and having dinner with me on Christmas. Guess the boyfriend told his mom because, yep, they are at his house tonight-sadly his mom is making prime rib which would be great but my daughter doesn't eat red meat and she knows it! Oh well, can't have everything.

Hope things settle down for everyone and you all have a great Christmas!

I have a sign on my fridge that says, "Worst person I know, Mother In Law" there is a song sung here by a New Orleans native, Earnie K Doe, and so now my DIL's all call me Mother in Law hence the screen name. I guess they hate me at times because I tell them like it is but for the most part I try to stay out of their business until they bring me in their business and then they get my opinion!!!!!!! Like it or not. ROFL

Sorry to hear about the machine Kath, I've learned to make sure I get more than one blank when I'm making things so if or should I say when the unmentionable happens I have a back up. Especially since I have two machines like you.

Sewhappie, hang in there it will all work out. Like you said, no body can fight her battles for her she has to be the one to do it, Mother in law sounds pushy, tell DD to push back. She'll back off.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Sewhappie,
My daughter's MIL always calls the shots in their family. For years, everyone has had to be at her house first on Thanksgiving, or she was doing Christmas first and wanted her daughter to be there the whole time and not spend any time with the SIL's parents.
Well, this year the SIL got fed up and told her they were going to his mom's first at Thanksgiving. So she got mad, cancelled Thanksgiving, and went to Branson. Do you think anyone cared? Not even her daughter.
People get tired of being manipulated. We always try to work out what is best for everyone, even if it is not what we really want to do. We had our Christmas with our kids on Fri. night. Not what I really wanted, but my daughter had to work this weekend, so you do what you have to do.

I think I'm a pretty cool MIL!!!! At least I ASK the kids and not TELL them about plans and it they would like to join in. I don't want to be the MIL from H#($&%%^^LL.

I finished sewing a few days before Christmas, I let the machines (serger and my s.m. rest for a few days) but I did do some flower arrangements and other crafts. I
