My sister got me 3 blank t-shirts and 20 batik fat quarters. (along with stuff I asked for...hand lotion I can't get here...soap I can't get here...and some dragons I really wish she WOULD STOP sending me.. Oh well at least it was only 3 and they can be hung outside)
YAY for the t-shirts and fat quarters !!!

(as soon as my machine is outa the shop...yep the bobbin really did a number on it...and I've been told by another dealer 5% of the new ones have to be replaced because of the same problem..oh dear...quality control is not what it used to be..I'll be making something quiltish for someone...maybe my sister...I got a great deal on some embroidery patterens at OPW. 5 sets for $75....thats about 52 designs or so...from the vendor I bought from...all quilt patterns in 4x4, 5x7 and 6x6) wwwhhhheeeee....

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have en even better New Year !!!

Yay! Christmas rocks eh?

I can beat ya tho! I got a whole new embroidery machine (or the money to go buy one with - which I already went and did) as well as all new pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and utensils for my kitchen! Double yay! Oh and let us not forget the Bailey's bottle

I'm young and haven't racked up much so Christmas is very nice for me. Santa did good! :nah:

We didn't do much for the holidays this year but I still had a wonderful day.
I was given the gift of light on demand. Pretty fancy. I just turn a little nob and I get light in my sewing room. Turn it again and there is more light. Turn it again and even more then the fourth turn and it is dark again. Boy did I need that. No more having to quit sewing -- or even working -- when it gets dark outside.
I also got a gift certificate at Hancock's Fabrics which will be used to cover the cushions at my desk chair and sewing chair and curtains in the sewing room.
I got a big handful of fat quarters that do not really go together in any way. I have no idea what to do with them but the sales woman in the fabric store told my husband the possibilities are endless.
And from my wonderful daughter the complete collection of Alexandre Dumas Three Musketeers books.
I remember reading The Three Musketeers decades ago and told her it was a lot of fun when she started reading the series. I didn't even know there are five of them.
So my leisure time will be enjoyed for a while, I'd say.

My best gift is not even sewing related!!!!! My DD & SIL gave me a Mothers Album!!! IT IS BEAUTIFUL, I just sat and cried, then she started too, then SIL joined in and then my DH!!!! It's a smaller version of their Wedding Album and it is the most precious thing I could have been given. Then I scolded them both for spending that kind of money (I didn't get one BECAUSE they where VERY expensive!!) She just looked at me and said, "Mommy after all that you have done and still do for me, there was NO WAY I was NOT going to give you this."
Kleenex Co was keeping me well stocked yesterday.
My GF gave me a flannel jacket that I can wear with jeans that is all sewing themed and the cutest bird feeder, it's a Sewing Machine!!!!! It looks just like a old 1930-40's Singer Sewing machine and in the front there is a opening that you put the birdseeds in, it is just way to cute to be used as that, I don't want birds crapping all over it!!!! So I have turned it into a candy dish and it sits on top of the entertainment unit in the Living Room.
I gave DH a Christmas card with a very mushy, lovely, sentimental hand written note. He just sat there, all choked up and read it. Our 21 yr old son looked at him as DH finished reading it and jokingly asked him it the card was from a "Girlfriend", DH looked at him and said "yup and you'd better learn to accept her cause I'm in love with her", (saying this as he made his way over to me and planted a BIG WET LOUD SMOUCH on me :bg:) All DS said as he rolled his eyes was " Oh Brother :whacky:
The furballs are playing with the toys that Santa gave them and eating the treats that he also brought for them and having a grand time, The furball that loves to sit and knit with me will not be bothered "playing with toys" she has laid claim to a green and a silver bow from the gifts and just carries them around the house. As long as she doesn't chew them I 'll let her have them, if she starts to chew then they go bye-bye. Crazy cat. :nc:

Hey Chrysantha, did it cost much to get your Janmone fixed. I think mine is a 9500 It has the emboridery and sewing both mine isn't even a year old yet. And I agree with what you said on the other thread Men just don't understand why we need two different or three different machines; but they can have a bunch of different stuff. By the way I am fairly new. Been reading, but not posting to much. pinkroses in Va. Looking to Jesus always.
I know I have a guradian angel watching over me. I am very gratefull. PINKROSES

It never costs much for me to get my machines fixed. I buy them at MY dealers, she's good about honoring the waranty AND since it's new...I probably won't owe anything.
Now service is something else...$125. for a full service on my 10000. It's fair and her husband does a GREAT job.

The first models of the 11000 have had a few problems. BUT they can be fixed with minor adjustments. The newer ones have had the problems solved already at the factory.

I got an Otts lamp for Christmas and just love it. I do cross stitch and some of the colours are so close that a regular light makes it hard to tell the difference. The Otts lamp show up the difference. It also has a 2x magnifying glass which will be great when I get out the linen to do an angel for a friend.
The second lovely gift I got was three blue ceramic cubes that spell MOM. The two m's have gray cats on top of them and the o has an orange cat on top. That is exactly what we have. I am thinking about a cat theme in my next sewing room. I do have a border of cats that is darling plus I have a few cat items to put in there. The ideas are endless. :bluesmile

Let's see -- guess I'll start in November when DH decided I needed a new serger to finish the costumes for the church musical -- Juki 4 thread serger (he asked me if I wanted a 5 thread and I told him no since I had had one for about 8 years and very seldom used the 5th thread); a new parka; new bathrobe (which is very, very warm and I seldom wear it around the house because of that); then he bought me an entire set of Estee Lauder Pleasures and a set of small bottles of the Estee Lauder parfums; then he took me to the furniture store on the 17th and let me pick out a new table and chairs for our kitchen (if and when we get a bigger house with a dining room, I can use this new set in a dining room); then he bought me a new white blouse with a pair of the uncut cord pants that I really like. The blouse is one of the fitted ones and it is a tad to snug so I will be taking it back to exchange but the pants fit very nicely. I also received a gift certificate for Bath & Body Works from our church music director for sewing all the costumes for our musical and gift certificates to Chili's Restaurant from the attorneys here in my office, chocolates, and today a new quilting book "Wild About Flowers". So, all in all, I think I had a pretty nice Christmas.

My DH bought me two Alpacas. I know, you are probably saying what is an Alpaca? Well it is a cousin to a Lama, but their fleece is better than cashmere.
Here is a picture of my newest additions to the family.

Aren't they cute?

ALpacas, very nice. Get out the spinning wheel.

dorothey, what a Christmas, a gift certificate to Hancock's and books. I would be in Heaven with that. Of course, the nearest Hancock's to me is an hour and a half away, but who cares? I can get a nice lunch in the big city.

Sewhappie and Annmade, what is it about cats and seamstresses? Every seamstress i know seems to have cats. I have 4.
And, sewhappie, can you show a pic of your jacket, I got one, too. Just wondering.

Well, got some work to do in the sewing room.

Yes, I will be spinning their fleece. They are very soft. Like a stuffed teddy bear. You can't imagine how surprised I was when my husband said lets get you one.

I also got other great gifts from my family. It was a wonderful Xmas. Our family has been blessed, especially my youngest daughter. It will be a year Jan 4th. since her brain tumor was removed. She is doing so well and she is back to being the bubbly, bright girl she has always been. All of our daughters were here for the holidays with their friends and significant others. It was nice having our big empty house filled with people again.

I'm happy to hear that everyone had a wonderful holiday too.

Well I can't decide what was best so I'll just tell what I got.
Daughter #1 Got me two books one about Gardening in Texas and one about canning without refined sugar.
Son #1 got me a beautiful heart pin.
Daughter #2 got me a pair of much needed house shoes.
Son #2 picked out a beautiful box from the dollar store and made me a beaded necklace to put in it. Mind you he is only three so when he picked the box out at the store I thought ok I am getting a box for Christmas. Well then we got home and were wrapping everything and when he got to my box he says "I need to make something to put in it." So a trip to the sewing/craft room and he decided on beads. Even though I had to help him make it this was one of the most touching gifts I received. This kid holds the true meaning of Christmas deep down in his heart.
Hubby gave me a John Deere Calender for my kitchen.
Dear old Santa put the instruction manual for a Futura Emroidery Machine under the tree. The machine itself was hiding and I had to go find it. :bg:
All in all every gift I received was wonderful.

Wow, everyone had such great gifts. My best gift has been spending time with all the kids and grandkids, as you know this is the first time in about ten years that we've all been together. Since we bought a new bed, I got sheets for it and a cd player for my sewing room which I really wanted, plus some yummy red satin pj's.
