NO Way! NO How! I am staying home & recooperating from today. The kids just left it is 1:22 AM. They got here as soon as we got home from church @ 9:30. We have been opening, eating & playing all day. When I wake up tommorrow I hope the elves will have been here cleaning HA! HA! I will probably be doing clean up most of the day. But we sure did have fun today & we will do it all over on Saturday for New Years Eve.

I have to go into town tomorrow for work and will probably use my gift certificate to Hancocks while I am there. I like to use gift certificates right away because you get more for them right after the holiday.
I think we are taking my daughter back to New York this week so I'll be busy trying to get my work done before we go.

Okay, I confess, I was at Joanne Fabrics at 7:00 a.m. this morning. I bought lots of fleece scraps -- 75% off all remnants. Plus I was investigating a new machine (new to me that is). I'll post a question about it in the "machine talk" forum in a few minutes. Plus I bought lights & a couple of kits that the kids can work on this week, while school is out.

Then off to Meijers, but I only bought groceries. They only reduced their stuff 50%. Now I'm home, but the kids are bugging me to go to the mall.

Not me! I never shop the day after Christmas! This afternoon though will be a different answer. Will go out today and look around, maybe pick a few things up but not necessarily-just want to see what's left and generic enough to maybe use for gifts next year. Do need to get some sewing supplies for my DIL who received a new sewing machine for Christmas. Guess my son just figured I'd teach his wife to sew HA HA. Got a good laugh when we asked her who was going to teach her how to sew and she was speechless! She hadn't thought about that! Told her to read her manual and get familiar with her machine and I'll sit down with her later this week or after my trip to Atlanta for work and show her how to use it. Her birthday is the middle of January though so thought a set of sewing supplies would be a good gift for her.

Never done, don't want to. I hate crowds. But today we are attempting to run down to Bellingham and check out some of the stores. Baby daughter is getting a tattoo down there today over an old one that she tried to get lasered off, so DH and I will have 3 hours to wander around. Unfortunately the appointment is for 5 pm, don't know what all will be open until 8. I have been mentally preparing myself all morning, so I hope I don't run screaming from the stores like a madwoma or that they find me hiding in a corner, babbling like a baby.

As I said I worked the day after the holiday. The store went in periods of very busy to almost slow. A group of ladies came in all wearing a neck full of Madri Gra beads. Having no idea why they were wearing them, I said hello can I help you. They all smiled and said they wanted to just shop around the whole store. About an hour later I had to jump on the register due to a rush. I helped two of these ladies who I meet earlier with all the beads. After I finished checking one out she handed me a string of beads. I said thank you and one of her friends came up right behind her laughing. I started to check her out and when finished I got 2 strands of beads. I ask then what was with the beads. This group of ladies go shopping the day after with a stand of beads around their necks. Depending on how much they spend they give the cashier a strand of beads. For every dollar amount a strand of beads are given. Whoever has no strands of beads left is the winner. You are to keep whatever strands you have left for the next year. I thought what a fun way to do shopping with your friends. They were having a good time and getting a few bargins too. Made me a little bit more cheerful wearing my beads through my day.

That's a clever game with the beads - how cute!
My dad plays a game with himself to see if he can get rid of all his pennies by the end of the week. Ha!

But noooooo, I didn't go out on the 24th or the 26th - no way, no how! I had to go to the mall the week before the 25th and it was absolutely horrible. I can't imagine going those days.

My buddy down at the fabric store reminded me the other day that Hancock Fabrics was having a 10% off sale on the 16th .... *LOL* Tempting, but traffic and crowds make it SO not worth it!

I went by Hancocks on Tuesday (I was in the neighborhood for work) with my gift card and bought fabric to cover the seat cushions at my desk and sewing machine so I will have a new sewing room -- soon -- when I get around to it.
The fabric was on sale so I bought some poly/rayon to make myself new black pants -- I need them. I got a couple magazines and handful of notions I needed too.

I went out on the 26th. I bought a bunch of the victorian village houses at Joann's (75% off!!), a bunch of ornaments and wrapping paper, plus a few more gifts for people that I haven't exchanged with yet.

The stores weren't bad at all in my area.

OK so I didn't intend to go to the sales but popped into a shop after my opticians appointment and bought a lined pinstripe suit jacket and trousers for £16 - I can't buy the fabric for that!

Well I just found this post and had to laugh because of all the people who won't go out and shop the day after Christmas. I am the same way about the day after Thanksgiving, but when Dec. 26th rolls around I am at the stores waiting for them to open. I have a whole plan. About a week before I check out what all the stores have left. Then I make a plan for what order to hit the stores. Then I only shop for Christmas Clearance. I get in, get what I want, do one walk around the clearance area to make sure that they don't have anything hidden, then it is off to the check out. This year I hit four stores all before noon. Then it was home to find room for it all in the garage. I got 6 animated deer. Four standing ones for just under $4 each and 2 leaping ones for about $6 each. I got all six of them for what you pay for one before Christmas.
I will never shop the day after Thanksgiving and I will always shop the day after Christmas. It is just one of those things. :re:

I got some great bargans at Wal Mart yesterday. They had Christmas shirts marked down from $16.92 to $7. I picked up 2 since mine are all getting worn looking, when IU checked out they rang up for $3. I would have gone back for more but they only had 2 left in my size. I also got PJ's for DDs marked from $16.92 to $2.71 I got a few extra of those. I also got Christmas fabric for .99 yd. I bought ahead for next year.
Now starting tommorrow I am going to sew.
