So, I'm happily sewing on my first quilt on my new machine that I got for Christmas. I get up to get a drink and low and behold I have a friend: http://static.flickr.com/41/77843390_436d5c82a0.jpg?v=0 Sterling, come on man, move! I say. At which point he promptly begins to stomp all over the place, scattering fabric in his wake. He then turns around so that I'll pet his back: http://static.flickr.com/43/77843392_55a6730e75.jpg?v=0 Then I got the dreaded "I'm not moving" look. http://static.flickr.com/38/77843395_15504a93e8.jpg?v=0 Sigh. Maybe I should read up on the new machine or something. |

To me he looks likes hes saying, go ahead and try it....I'm waitin for ya... (he's a great lookin guy !!! ) Thats why ferrets are NEVER allowed into the bedrooms. I wouldn't have anything left...it would be stolen, hidden or used to sleep in.... Chrys

I love it!!!! I have the middle one sitting on my lap right now trying to get my attention away from the computer. I have had to re-type every word here at least 3 times (the head keeps head-butting my hands on the keys). THey can be such funny creatures, they come around when THEY want the attention and run like crazy when you want to give it to them. Chrys, I thought about you today as DH and I where watching the newest Harry Potter movie. They have a beautiful white ferret in it. |

What a great kitty! From the look on his face, you may have a hard time makin' him move. Time for some snuggle-lovin'??? They are SO expressive, aren't they? |

Don't get me wrong.... I LOVE cats, have 3 myself. But the absoloute rule is that cats don't get to go into my craft room. Once in awhile, my dh goes in and doesn't close the door securely when he leaves. My girl, Tinkleberry, has spent a few nights shut in because she just can't stand it that there is a room where she isn't allowed to go! She is such a brat! My other indoor/outdoor sweetie, Bubba, has no problem complying with my wishes, in fact has never even tried to come in to my craft room. He's very sensible and considerate. Too bad the little princess can't learn from him.... sigh!

Jealous cat Huh? been there, done that, ate the furballs. and yours loves to pose for the camera too - I think Sterling has mastered "The Look" that cats like to give to their pets... love and kisses, Jan

ooh, Sterling is gorgeous!! I am a cat lover from 'way back. I had 2 Siamese that spent every moment in the sewing room that I was in there. But, now I have 4,, and cannot stand the thought of one of them getting stuck with a pin, or eating a thread and clogging up their 'innards'. They stay out of the sewing room, and Prince Albert hates me for it. He cannot stand a closed door.

Yeah thats what I'm worried about...him getting thread stuck in him. He has an obsession with ribbon (we can't put ANY ribbon anywhere in the house, or he finds it and eat it, and then poops green for a week). The vet says we've been lucky so far with the ribbon, but I SO don't want him to figure out what thread is. I get so worried about it, I don't get anything done if he's in the room. The other problem is that I live in an apartment...I don't have a sewing room. I have to haul everything out into the living room when I want to sew and put it away when I'm done...so there really isn't a place to lock him up, unless I put him in the closet and I just don't have the heart to do that to him. But maaaaaaaaan, it took me like 7 hours to do one block yesterday because he kept trompsing around the sewing field |

I'm tempted to say get a plany sprayer filler with water and disuade him - but not good near electrical equipment. And the resultant explosion of cat/fabric/cutters etc is also Not Good.

Maddie what would he do if you got a pet carrier to put him in just when you're sewing? I don't have a cat so I dont' have that problem, but I do have a little girl dog that likes to make herself comfortable if I'm cutting fabric and it puddles on the floor at the end of the cutting table. I always yell at her to get off my fabric and she looks at me like I've done the worst possible thing I could think of to her when I yell at her. Patsy Patsy

Magot, the funny thing is...he looooooooooooooves water. And he loves it sprayed in his face. Hahaha. A water bottle would just encourage him to be near the machine more. A cat carrier isn't a bad idea, but I think he associates that thing with the vet's office A better idea might be his bed. If I make a huge enough deal out of it, I think I can con him into curling up next to me in his bed instead of on top of everything I'm doing |

lol, my quilts all come with disclaimers, that a cat or dog has more than likely been on or near the material that is in this quilt. the LOVE to snuggle on my lap as i am doing the binding, they seem to know that i have one on my lap even if they are in the other end of the house. |

My "little" boy thinks whenever I lay fabric out (like yesterday) to pin/cut it's a new place for him to lie down. Getting him out of the way is a little harder than a cat! lol

Yeah, it's pretty hard to chase those cute little 2 legged critters out of the room and shut the door on them. LOL Patsy Patsy
