Hi all!

I'm new here and happy to have found this place!
I'm just beginning fashion design and while I'm still in the middle of formal schooling, I find when I'm creating things, I normally just put it on the mannequin instead of using set patterns. Although the patterns did help a LOT in the beginning when I was starting to design.

My question is ....
Always before I get ready to start a new design I always get overwhelmed by it. Ha! Always! But halfway into it, that goes away thankfully!

Anybody else experience this?

Nope...sorry...Nothing overwhelms me....now sometimes the fabric and thread I have, over takes the ROOM I use...(and I have the addiction to fabric and thread most of 'us' have... :whacky: )

Sometime when I am reading so old books my mom has I get all these ideas and instead of steeping back and thinking I jump right in. Then I get that way, and think what the heck am I doing. So I step back and look everything over and finish one and go onto another. Drives me nuts because I want them all done NOW!

I see that you are learning the "Art of Fabric Stash"!!! Bet if you ask your Professors, they will either have a "secret" one or none at all. The last ones are the ones you watch out for, they have no sense of "someday's". You know "Someday" I'll get around to making something out of that piece!!! "Someday" I WILL get around to using up that 5 yards of fabric I bought ON SALE 7 years ago!!! I just haven't found the right pattern for that one yet, it's TOO PRETTY to cut up!!!!! Stashes of fabric are like Linus' blanket to a Seamstress, it's always there as a support system. The more you have the better your support!!!!

Oh yes! The art of stashing! I do that with everything anyhow, I think artistic people tend to more than others!

Although my stashing got worse when I found a gold mine of a fabric shop here ... fabrics galore and always a LARGE sale section of the most gorgeous prints .... *happy sigh* .....

I'm very lucky my sister feeds my fabric addiction and my husband doesn't mind if I buy much....of course I never tell him exactly HOW much fabric I buy....I hide it in plain sight, he never knows the difference.. :bg:
