Hello

I wouldt like to introduce myself, my name is Claudia, I am from Frankfurt, Germany.
As you wouldt expect, my passion is sewing. I like to sew clothing, quilts and underwear.

My day should have 48 hours, but you all might know that :-)

If I will talk a little bit strange or spell in a unknown way, please let me know, my English couldt be much better

We have something quite like this in Germany, its called www.hobbyschneiderin.com, and I like sharing my hobby with other addicted people.
Now I would like to meet Sewers from outside my country and thats why I say hello to you!!!

So this is my first day in your group,

best regards

Claudia

Frohe Weihnachten, Claudia, und ein glückliches neues Jahr.
Your English is a heck of a lot better than our German. Welcome and join the fun.

Welcome Claudia. I can speak some French but I don't know any German at all. But from what I can see your English is excellent. I mainly do quilting so it's always good to have another quilter around.

Hi Claudia, welcome from Canada! Unfortunately the only German I remember from high school is something about having a pencil although I come from a strong German background. We will look forward to hearing about all your sewing projects and getting to know you.

THANK YOU !!!

You seem to be really funny, I smiled about your comments and I needed it because I am at work

I think I am a little bit advanced at sewing clothes but my quilting is a beginner-status. But anyway I will help you as much as I can.
...and if you need a translation in german, let me know...........

So have a happy and healthy New Year!!!

Welcome to our group Claudia. I've been to Frankfurt as we were stationed at Ramstien AFB in the 60's. Have forgotten most any German I knew back then.

Hello Mary,

normal trousers and coats I sew for the everyday-use. I like to use corduroy (is that right? we call it Cord) and as I get older :-) I prefer more and more wool.
At work I wear a labcoat, so there is no use of looking very stylish. But for the case, my husband will invite me some day to a classical concert or the opera (I will not bet on that), I finished some blouses out of silk ( I like silk very much, so thats the reason for silksue...), but serioussly: I wear them at a special occasion, like birthdays..
I am still looking for MY style. Its getting better over the years, but at the end of a project sometimes I am not satisfied.
I know, which colours are the best for me, but sometimes I cannot resist to buy a purple....
I dream to sew a perfect matched season outfit (all parts have to be mixed in style and colour and should make me 10 years younger)

Spring would be a good start for that....

A happy new year for all of you!
Claudia

I know about still looking for your style. I lean toward knits a lot, comfy and cool if you use the right ones. I love purple and all the jewel tones. I work from home so I dress very casual.

How nice, we have people from all over. Welcome aboard Claudia.

I tend to stay away from knits and heavy fabrics these days. You know, the age thing ... I haven't sewn for myself in a while so I have to get started again.

Welcome Claudia! You will enjoy our little group here, I think. As you can, a friendly bunch. I am fairly new to quilting-only a few years but I have been sewing since I was very little. I mostly sew for my grandchildren now. I haven't sewn for myself since I left the hospital and don't need scrubs anymore.

Again, welcome!

Welcome Claudia, we are so glad to have you with us.. I cannot speak German, but your English is very good.. I am retired, so I mostly make casual garments for myself nowadays, but I have 3 grandchildren .. I sew for 2 of them.. the 16 year old has outgrown such things..I am a beginner quilter, but I am gradually getting a little better at it.. You will love this site.. And, yes, we are mostly a bunch of nuts here .. Some of us have zanier senses of humor than others.. :coffee2:

Thank you again,

sitting alone at the computer, your warm welcomes make me feel better and its sad, that we cannot meet and have a cup of :coffee2:

Yesterday I cleaned up my sewing place! It had to be done, it was a mess!
So tommorow I will start a new project, but I still have no idea what to sew first, too much fabric............... :nervous:

I have some questions about your group, did not found the answers (or was to blind to see them....)

How old is your forum?
Do you know each other only online or are there friendships which started here?
Do you have postal contact and swap fabrics or projects to be ended by a few (we call it round robin, do you know what I mean, I am out of words ...)

Its always nice to open this page, sewers are the best!

Prost Neujahr! (Have a healthy new year!)

Welcome. I can answer one of your questions. Yes, there are swaps of all kinds. I am sure some will be starting up since the holidays are over.

Welcome!! My dad was stationed in Germany a long time ago. He taught me a few words but I don't think that I could recall them. I have a few steins that he gave me from there and I love them. One of them has beautiful artowrk on it. I am sure you will find help and freindship here. I have never been dissappointed when I ask a question.

I am fairly new to sewing. I took a half semester class in High School and enjoyed it, but I didn't do much with it until my husband and I got married. He works in a nursing home and plans to attend Nursing School this year so he needed scrubs. He also has a pocket fettish so that's why I started sewing his scrubs. It's also hard to find prints that are suitable for men in RTW scrubs. Other than the one class in HS I am pretty much self taught. That is part of the reason I love this site. If I get stumped on something then I can post a question and viola there are answers!!

As for your English, I think you are doing fine. I have talked to many people for which English was their ONLY language that couldn't speak(type) it as well as you do!

Happy Sewing!!
Charity

Guter Tag der Mit quilter,
( I had to look how to say that up in German). Welcome, I'm new here too. I've been quilting over 10 years and love it. I work full time still so I don't have time to quilt as I would like. I have swapped with quilters around the world and collect signed blocks from them.
I used to sew clothing and then did some craft things around the house like aprons, table cloths, and others. You will have a good time here so check in daily if you can. Good quilting.
