My dealer has both of these machines at a steal, since he's no longer going to be selling embroidery machines. I know they're both great machines, but which one is better? I like the "endless bobbin" feature of the Singer, and the ability to update the Janome. I have a Brother PE170D that I've outgrown, due to the small hoop size, but other than that, I love it. Any advice? Thanks, Linda |

Well the 10000 was outdated 2 yrs ago, by the 10001 (the update which can be done to the 10000 by computer) and the 11000 which is new this yr. I've never seen the Singer. I DO own the 10000 (updated to 10001), 11000, the 300E (embroidery only), 6500 Quilt Pro and the Compulock. The 10000 uses flash cards (like your digital camera), USB link from your computer), regular Janome cards. You can store UP to 100 patterns on 12 folders on your flash cards. PLUS you can store patterns on your machine itself. Then theres the multi-format CD's you can buy and keep them to put on flash cards. The Janome sews, embroiders, quilts. (I do all of that on MINE) I've had my 10000 for 3 yrs now. NO trouble. Just service. It's a HEAVY, workhorse of a machine. I've sewn LEATHER on it.4 layers of denim...silk...brocade....velvet. You have -5- hoops for your Janome, (you might get 2, but have to buy the others.) 2x2, 4x4, 5x7, F-hoop which is a round spring loaded for towels and heavy things, is actually another 4x4, and the GIGA, 9x10... So the choice is up to what YOU want, need, gotta have. I think Susie ( Mother-in-Law here in SWN has the Singer...) I belong to a Janome only site here online, www.clubj.onlinesewing.com run by a Janome dealer and his wife. (you have to pay to belong, but in the long run it's cheap at ANY price. Mr Jim will answer all your questions about all Janome machines, trouble shoot your machines AND your computer problems and has newsletters for Digitizer (and Pro for 2005/06) and the 11000. )he'll archive the 10000 stuff in Jan on CD). My biggest concern for you isn't which machine to buy but will this dealer be able to service whichever one you decide upon? With machine embroidery gaining in popularity more and more each day I just can't imagine someone giving up selling them unless they are getting too far over their heads to take care of. Not that any of them will break down or have problems normally, but what if you need extra servicing. Just make sure you can get it serviced and that he/she knows something about the machine before you buy.
