All the threads have been coming up in hybrid mode for me for a couple of weeks or more now. It is very annoying. I've gone into my control panel and it says they are supposed to be in linear mode but no matter what they stay in hybrid mode. Am I the only one ? Is there something I need to do to change it? I like to read in linear mode!!!

Thanks.

What are hybrid mode and linear mode? :nc:
...
...Actually, I just checked it out. I was able to go from linear to hybrid to linear with no problem. When I first went to hybrid, I had to refresh the forum page for it to take effect. Did you remember to scroll down to the bottom of the 'options' page to click on the 'save changes' button?
Take care,
Donna

When I went to look I was still in linear mode[I had always had it in linear mode]. But the posts show up in hybrid mode. So I went and changed it to something else and then back to linear again and yes, I did click save changes. It will not go out of hybrid mode for me. I really REALLY hate hybrid mode.

Maybe I need to get a new id and see if that makes any difference.

edited to add:
I just logged out cleared all the cookies and logged back in. Even when I was logged out it was in hybrid mode and is again now I am logged back on.

HELP!!

I'm sorry that I can't help you with this. To be honest, I didn't know there were different 'modes', but I see why you wouldn't like the hybrid mode...I cancelled it as quickly as I could! :whacky:

Good luck.

I hope someome shows up that can fix it.. if it can be fixed. It is awful .I wonder why they even make a hybrid mode? Who in their right mind would want to read like that?? :bluesmile :nah:

Did you email Mary and ask her?? After reading your email I don't even want to see if I can get into hybrid mode.

If you are using Internet Explorer, did you try deleting your Temporary Internet Files? Then close Internet Explorer and reopen. See if you are back to Linear mode.

Or possibly try going into edit your SWN options and click Reset Fields. That should change everything back to the default which is Linear mode?

FYI - I had changed my mode to "Linear Newest to Oldest" so it would always download all posts in reverse order. I would go down to find the one I had last read and read up to the top of the screen. Now that I have tried "Hybrid", I like it. When you go into a thread, you can see the time of everyone's posts and click on the time of a post that you probably haven't read. Then it displays only the posts from that time on til the last post. Spends less time downloading before I can read.
