While cleaning out my aunt's basement, I came across an old sewing machine (not too old) that I received as a gift over 10 years ago. And, so my interest in learning to sew has been re-ignited! The problem is, my machine is missing a few parts (bobbin case, needle plate). I just downloaded the manual from the website, but I am also missing all the accessories that came with it. My machine is a brother VX-1090. Can anyone suggest whether it is worth finding the parts and all the accessories, rather than purcasing another machine? If it is worth purchasing the parts and accessories, can anyone recommend a store in the Toronto area?? With much anticipation! - Trisha |

Those accessories are very standard. Nearly any sewing machine dealer should have them and they are not very expensive.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

Evelyn's Sewing Centre in Newmarket provides service and parts on Brother machines. A super group of people, very skilled technicians and a huge supply of 'everything' for sewing, quilting. The phone # is 905-853-7001. 17817 Leslie Street, Newmarket. I make the trip from Ajax just for the service and fabric selection. The tech brought my 30 year old Bernina back to life I hope this helps. Take care. NanaBear |

Thanks for your suggestions! The good news is that I just found an old box, and when I opened it, I found all the parts and accessories I was missing. I've been practicing for a couple of days with it, and just hemmed my first pair of pants! Very exciting. But, I will use your suggestions for my future needs! cheers-tkf |
