Hi all, I am moderatly experienced at sewing from patterns, and I picked out an 'easy' pattern from Vogue for a pair of pants. However they contain a fly zipper and no instructions on how to put in the zipper (and no instructions for a fly zipper in the zipper's package) The pattern for the front piece contains markings for right, center and left, but I don't get what this means. I have tried examining a pair of jeans to see how the fabric would be sewed but am not getting it. Any advice? All my sewing books only give instructions for sewing in the zipper, not how the pattern reads. much appreciation with your help! zirene |

I just made a pair of shorts for my oldest son that I had to put in my first front fly zipper. The instructions that deb gave you are almost exactly what my pattern was. It worked perfectly!

Don't be put off by it, if you have good instructions, they just practically fall into place and you'll feel just so smart after you've put in your first one!

Debsews - Thanks for the link, it worked. I compared it to the pattern and realized the pattern markings are on the opposite side and missing a step. Now if only my 10 month old would go to sleep I could finish the pants Zirene |
