Here's a nice article with illustrations of a number of layouts.

Here is the link to my old sewing room (I've posted before). It was only 7 1/2 feet by 14 so things are a little crowded and I wasn't thrilled with the computer arrangement here. I couldn't move it because when I added the computer table to the quilt table, it was as wide as the room and either I couldn't use the quilt part of the table at all or I couldn't get by. The new one is 14X26.5 (total) but it isn't quite trimmed out yet. I finally got my comfy chair back into my sewing area along with my pattern file cabinet (so I'm a happy camper).

Here is a link to one of my pictures of my sewing room. This is in a very small bedroom upstairs in our house. I just love it. The setup works well for me.

Wow! I love the yellow! Makes me want to paint the room to brighten it up some....it is a taupe color right now. Mine is upstairs in a farmhouse with a ceiling just like yours! I have my sewing machine facing a very small window looking out. The angled ceiling is above my head...thank goodness I am short! You inspire me! Thanks for the pic.
