Hi, I'm real new at this,(posting) never having posted on your site before, but reading frequently. Really enjoy all the great information. Also enjoy the jokes! I enjoy sewing and embroidering on my Designer 1. My daughter is taking nursing and is sewing herself some scrubs. The bottoms have got too much material in the front crotch area (seems to hang too low) as well as the back at the waist. I told her to take in the back starting half way down, up to the waist, tapering it in. But I'm not sure about the front. The hips seem to fit OK, so if she takes in the front crotch seam, will it be too tight in the hips? When she sits, there are folds of material in the front, which is obviously too much. How can she fix this problem? Thanks for your help.

Tell your daughter to turn the material over a little further in front when making her casing for the elastic. just for an example if she turns the fabric over 1" on the sides and back tell her to try 1 1/2" in the front then keep her stitching at 1" to keep the lines even.

Store bought scrubs are loose in the front and back to accomodate bigger bellies and derrieres. They are also loose to accomodate the turning twisting and lifting.

Tell her to make her scrub tops a little longer so when she bends over it doesn't ride up and expose her back or her panties.

If your DD is learning to sew her scrubs because she wantes to learn to sew that's fine but if it is a chore and she would rather be sewing something else tell her to check out marcusuniforms.com lots of stuff is $10 and if you spend $50 you get free shipping. The girls at work swear by that site.

Let me know if you need more help.

When I was making my daughter's scrubs I used a cargo pants pattern because she didn't like the way the scrub pattern fit. It had the pockets on the side of the leg and I just modified that a little to make it the way she wanted. With a drawstring waist it fit better than the scrubs.

Just wanted to let you know that she sewed a seam about 3/4" wide from the top all through the crotch and around to the back and that made a big difference. The pants fit quite nicely now. Thanks again for your help.
