this is the time I wished I had a quilt board..

I was 99.9% finsihed with a quilt top, when I layed it out for the first time to take a look at it..

The quilt is 9.5" blocks that are made out of 3.5" blocks.. I found a row after I had most of the boarders around it ( 3 boarders ) turned upside down.. (ripping that out now)
and I have 3 blocks that are in the 9.5" size that I think are also turned wrong or one of the 3.5" blocks are in the wrong place. ( might be more then 3)

anyone else run into this problem so late into the game?

It would not be so bad if I didnt' have most of the boarders finsihed.. and I can deal with the row, but how in the world will I work out ripping out the blocks and getting the boarders back to fit right?

Sorry...I always iron and check each row as I sew them together, so that if a row is wrong (and I often have at least ONE or TWO), then I can fix it before the borders/shashing go on....I also starch my quilts so they lay flatter and are easier to 'see' the rows...nothing is perfect....but if it displeases YOU, then make it right...ask someone to look at it and if they don't see the 'flaw' then don't worry about it. (I'm not a perfectionist. I like things straight, but if one block is off a bit, then heck....it 'might' straighten out when it's quilted and no one will ever know... :bg: )

I have done the same type of thing. I was making a t-shirt quilt for my husband and had to it rip apart 3 or 4 times. But the borders did fit after all that. Just had to make some minor adjustments to them. It turned out great. My husband loves it. And I am very proud of it.

What I would try is to undo the 4 seams around the 3.5" block as well as a bit of the 4 seams that extends into the blocks that join it, e.g. undo half of the seam of next block. Then turn the 3.5" block so that it is the correct way, pin and sew the seams back up - sew two opposite sides then the other two sides. Make sure that you sew the seams back in the correct order so that you will be able to press them in the same direction as you did before.

I did this once after I had pinned the quilt and had it ready for quilting. I noticed that the seams of one 6" block was coming apart and needed to be resewed. Had to unpin a small section, undo the block and resew, then repin the section.

Good luck.

I still have a little bit of ripping out to do, but since it was cloudy outside today I took the photo for you all to view.

Not sure how I will quilt this yet...

Wow! Beautiful quilt.

p.s. How did you get a picture to appear. I've tried it several times and it never happens?

Love it!!! That is really beautiful, how long did that take you? Are you going to quilt it yourself too?
Cheers,
