I am considering purchasing a Quantum futura Singer embroidery machine, which, like many other machines, can be connected to a computer. As I have a Mac and not a PC, is there anybody who has found a machine that is compatible with Macs or at least with a Mac plus Virtual PC?
Thanks in advance...

I don't know about the other brands but I know that you can't use an Apple with Bernina software (not sure about the machine itself), but since the software won't talk to an apple, and the Bernina software is all that does a good conversion to ART, it is highly unlikely that you would want to try to use Bernina equipment with your Apple. (Also the top Berninas are now Windows machines.)

I don't know about others. You might even send an e-mail to Apple to ask them if they know...they just might.

The Futura CE-100 or 200 embroidery machines are not compatible with the Mac computers/software. Sorry. I just checked with my local Singer dealer where I bought my CE 100. They only run on Windows 98 and up.

I am a Mac user. Yes most of the software can be used on your mac using Virtual Pc (it makes the mac run Windows if you don't know what that is) but the problem comes when you try to send the designs to the machine. We solved the problem by just buying a cheap Pc and it is used only for embroidery software and isn't hooked to the internet. Using VPC is very slow and until someone goes back to making native Mac software (Pfaff used to) there really isn't a way around having a second computer.

Sorry Janome isn't compatible with Mac's either...some people get cheap lap tops for their embroidery machines. That way they can use them at home and take them to class too.

The Pfaff was compatible with Mac up to the 7570, but the newer models aren't. You might look for a used 7570. It would still be more advanced that the CE-200. However, the 7570 isn't as user friendly as the ce-200. You might also consider finding a low priced or used PC just for the CE-200. I would also consider the CE-100 and a different digitizing software rather than the ce-200. You would save $300 which you could apply towards better software. My Singer rep may condemn me to hell for saying this but the Auto-Digitizing program with the 200 is not that great. The 100 or 200 will allow you to use any other software you desire.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom
