I have a question about topstitching curved edges like on pockets. I find that when I am going around the corners my topstitches are not in line with the pocket curve, they are set in more than the other stitches. When I do the topstitching I am using an edging foot, watching the edge of the fabric, not the needle and still find it doesn't keep in line with the curve. What am I doing wrong?

I usually lower my pressure foot and do one stitch at a time, raising the pressure foot when needed - needle down at all times. |

I usually lower my pressure foot and do one stitch at a time, raising the pressure foot when needed - needle down at all times. Good tip. I think this is actually a case where one SHOULD watch the needle. Practice makes perfect, and GO SLOWLY (this was a tip from the ladies on the board and it really is important for topstitching sometimes). see the mundane life of a housewife.

Just wanted to thank you Dede for the tip. I ripped out the other topstitching and tried again like you said, and it worked really well as long as I WENT SLOW. It never pays to hurry when sewing! Laura

I've also had to lower the tension on the pressure foot on occasions and it made a world of difference. |
