Hey all, I need some help! I have a pattern that calls for wide single fold bias tape around a square area. Are there any suggestions for making this look neat? Usually it ends up looking a little sloppy. I've tried cutting it into 4 different pieces and just sewing it as a whole. Usually with the 4 pieces, it looks messy on the corners. When sewing it as a whole, the area looks more rounded than square. The square area is only about 4x4in. Thanks for any suggestions. |

rofl - Well, yes, it was a little big! But I can sense your desperation (grin). Are you supposed to be making a binding around the edges? Are they inside corners or outside corners. A little bit more info would help

Sorry, wasn't sure what kind of info you all would need. I'm a little new to this. I am making a shopping cart cover. It calls for wide, single fold bias around the legs (which are separate) so this is on the inside of the material. When I tried to sew it as one piece, it looked round instead of square, and when I tried making it 4 separate pieces, it looked messy around the corners. I guess it doesn't matter much since it's just for my own personal use, but would like it to look neat if I can figure out how! Thanks! |

Sounds to me like you need to miter your corners. I am no good at explaining how to do it but maybe someone else can.

Is the binding used as a facing? I'm having a hard time seeing this in my head. I would think that Pudge is right about the mitering - try this link and see if it helps mitre corner (http://craftandfabriclinks.com/TIPS/assemblebindqlt.html)
