I am new to this site and sewing. I am also new to being a mom and find that the most economical and time saving way to buy clothes is to shop clearance. Unfortunately the best fitting size is not always available. I have recently found this great combinations of t shirts but they are two sizes too big and fall off of my shoulders. A few months ago I may have fit them great because I had more stomache but I didn't own both coordinates than. I am resigned to taking in both shirts but don't want to make any of the wrong cuts. I have an idea about using some ribbon in the back since it is one of those v-neck/v-back shirts. The camisole undershirt is more of a problem with the strap. It needs to be shorter but is made from the same fabric as the shirt part. If anyone reading this post is experienced in this type of sewing please feel free to offer me your advise. It will be helpful and appreciated. AllReadyLady. :pc:
ps hurry before I muck it up! :bluewink:

WHen I was loosing weight there was this really cool little device that was popular. It had a couple of little clamps that opened. I'll try to describe them because I haven't the foggiest what they are called. You find them on suspenders and the like and could probably be found in the notions department of a fabric store. They are about the size of a thumb and they are flat. There is a little flat flap-type thing that opens and when you open it, there is a little clip underneath that opens up too. People were covering 3/4 inch elastic (or so) with a little loose tuble of gathered material, folding the elastic and fabric thorugh the little loop end of these and sewing. There was a clamp on each end and the whole thing was maybe 5-6 inches long from one end to the other. The loose gathered fabric gave the thing enough room to stretch. You could use them in the back of vests or dresses or just about anything. If you stretched the elastic allowed the garment to stretch with you and they held large things together and made them smaller. You just took them off to wash the garment. I had several in all kinds of fun colors (like jewelry for your garment). It is also a very quick fix.

I remember those! They clipped in the back to cinch in a garment if you didn't have ties etc. Looked like mitten clips :bluewink: You could likely make a set with a pair of old suspenders and some nice ribbon. Threads had an article about garments and weight changes 2 or 3 issues ago.

I was at Hancocks today and they still had them. THey weren't covered, but it was the elastic and clips. They were less than $3.00 full price. This was a grand opening so they were half price. I don't know if any of the other Hancock stores have notions for half price for the weekend or not.

Hancocks and Joann's are both online. I( would think that most stores that sell sewing notions would have them.
