I hung pictures most of the day with the new laser level I bought Raymond for Christmas. I had fun playing with that thing. I also bought some of those little velcro hangers so you don't have to poke holes in your walls and they are neat also. I had fun hanging my family's smiles all over the place. I miss my grandkids that are so far away. It made me feel bad to see their little faces smiling at me. I have two grandsons and two granddaughters I see often still but the other three girls I don't get to see like before and that makes me sad.

Then I cooked tacos for everyone and tonight I'm going to hem my bedroom drapes that's been hanging on the windows with pins holding the hems up before I go to bed tonight.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

I did a lot today and really didn't finish a thing.
I made breakfast burritos then started in with the embroidery machine. I screwed up almost everything I stitched today.
While the machine was doing its thing I was sanding my Pinewood Derby car.
Then it was off for a round of mini golf with the family.
Then back home to figure out why everything I stitched screwed up.
Hubby cooked dinner and I played around with the embroidery machine.
After dinner Hubby and I snuck out to Wal-mart to get spray paint, sandpaper and chocolate.
Now I am sitting at the machine wondering why nothing stitched out right today. I think I am going to do a simple redwork design and then go to bed.

I worked a nine hour shift, came home ate dinner, watched the dog show while I cut out a pattern with tons of pieces to cut out, now I am reading the mail and post then off to bed, so I can do the same thing tomorrow minus the dog show on tv.

We went to the commissary (military grocery store for those who don't know)
Then I put Christmas away (finally)...then I did the annual MOVING of the dragons. Happens every Jan. after my sister has given me MORE dragons and I have to find places to put them. Then I moved books. Jack our baby ferret seems to like pulling my books out of the shelves. So I'm fixing that and taking them away...he lays his head on the shelves and looks pitiful.
(I'm not buyin THAT look).
Then I read the paper and thats about it...cleaned up the house a bit.
(ferrets like to play with the paper bags from the store, so they play and then they get put out for the garbagemen). Ta da....what an exciting life I lead.... :bg:

Well I started the curtains and just realized I don't have any RED thread. And Pretty Women is on tv so I think I'll just take a break and see if I can find some embroidery thread that will work.

Got up at 9:00 a.m., got ready and went to 10:50 church service; came home; went with dh to Steak & Shake for lunch; came back home then went to Hancock Fabrics for about an hour; changed clothes; stretched my body out on the sofa in the living room with my rice bag on my sore hip and back where dh was watching football; went to sleep and woke up at 4:45 p.m. to the phone ringing; dh's aunt and uncle in Bristol, VA called); changed clothes again; went to evening service came home, hopped into my pjs and i've been sitting here in my sewing room trying to make myself finish these bibs for the lady in West Virginia that takes care of my mother. I need to go to bed as I have to get up early for a hair appointment in the morning and then -- fun! fun! fun! dental appointment. See Kathie my life is about as exciting as yours. :re:

Since today was my yesterday...I slept in...til 8:00 a.m. got up and made coffee then checked SWN then did some googling for quilting stuff. Made my calls to my familly...only have two cousins and their families living close no immediate family so I'm the one who usually makes the long distance calls on Sunday mornings - thank goodness for unlimited long distance service - years ago my bills were huge. Then made soup and sandwich for lunch and watched the Canadian Figure Skating Championships - it was the dance finals - my cousin's daughter who is 15 years old was in the ceremonies. She was the one carrying out the bronze medals - but they didn't show the medal presentations on TV so didn't get to see it. Then spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up my sewing room. With all the sewing I did before Christmas, then had company for New Years - had to clean all my projects and fabric off my spare bed - and everything got dumped into my sewing room. Tried sewing around the stuff but is was so annoying that I bought some of those plastic rolling bins to organize all my small stuff so that I will have room for the bigger stuff. By 7:00 p.m. was almost organized. Then made myself supper (soup & sandwich again), checked out SWN and my emails, posted my Christmas pictures on my picture site for my family to see, and finished the day by watching Extreme Makeover (Home Edition), Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.

That was my day....geez...I just realized I never stuck my nose outside the door...of course it was -16 C and even worse with the wind chill. 24 hours before it was +2 C. What a weird winter we are having!

Well it was yesterday now, but we woke late and had a big breakfast out with my daughter and her boyfriend before starting the four hour drive home.
By the time I'd unpacked stuff and did the laundry I was ready to just sit in front of the tube for a while and be brain dead.
We had cold shrimp, cheese and a salad for dinner and ate in front of the tube, something we almost never do. Usually we have dinner in the dining room with candles, music and wine.

Chrys: We've been to Steak and Shake in Ohio and Florida. Don't like it! I don't really know why except both times the food was really substandard. Cold and overdone! Hard to do both of those at the same time. We have a Johnny Rockets here that everyone seems to like but me. Maybe I'm not into burger places!!

Time difference! Do we mean yesterday (Sunday) or today (Monday)?

Today I got up at 0630 am, then did the school run (14-mile round trip) remembering to fill my car with diesel on the way then settled down to work at home as I'd an appointment with the muscularskeletel person for some manipulation in the afternoon. They rang an hour before the appointment to cancel (if they'd rung earlier I could have gone into the office). In between working I filled up the washing machine, tumble dried, filled/emptied the dishwasher and dealt with work 'phone calls, petted the cat for a while and watched birds on the feeders. Now everyone is home demanding "where's this, where's that, can I have...." plus daughter has come in and trampled mud into the carpet all up the stairs :bang:

To do: Finish my work, take daughter to dance classes, sit around for 90 minutes waiting (too far to come home again) then cook dinner. I may get to sit down by 9.30 pm if I'm lucky and must be bed by 11 pm as I have to be up at 5 am to go to the office (the joys of long distance commuting).

When I posted this it was Sunday but Monday's agenda will do. Just something to rave, complain, and just look back on the past day.

Godess, Your day sounds like mine since I've moved out in the country. Today I have to take all the Grandsons home which one lives 45 minutes away. If I have to take him to his Dad's work it's farther. Oh what we don't do for our Grandkids. LOL

Okay, today is Monday, at least here in Oklahoma. I was off on holiday today (MJK Birthday) and spent the entire day at the dentist's office (cleaning -- yeah!!! NOT), grocery shopping and getting my hair cut. Still didn't get to the pharmacy to pick up my Fosamax (I'm sure my gp would be really happy if he knew I haven't had it for at least 3 weeks now) and forgot to get oj or dh at the supermarket. The good news with the dentist is that I get to go to an oral surgeon as soon as I schedule the appointment to have 2 wisdom teeth extracted and then back to the regular dentist next month for another cleaning and 2 fillings. I can think of a lot of other things I would rather do with my time and money.

Anway, that was my exciting day today. I've been off 3 days and again haven't been able to get any sewing done. This is beginning to really frustrate me.

Chrys as far as Steak and Shake goes, our burgers were okay but we ended up spending the better part of a $20 bill for lunch at a fast burger joint. It's new here in our area and we just tried it but I really doubt we'll go there again unless it's just for a shake.

This is a good discussion. I always feel bad that I don't accomplish much in a day. When I read your finished or started projects I feel worse. Now I can see how many of you actually spend your day I feel more normal. Two days ago I came back to town from visiting friends after my Mother's funeral. While visiting, I discovered what I already knew - I have to get up earlier in the morning. But then I would have to go to bed earlier. :nervous:

My wasted day was like this -
I got up to let dog out at 9:30 only to discover that my paper had not been restarted and thus could not be read. Fed dog and let him out again. Back to bed for 2 hours as couldn't keep eyes open. Played on computer for longer than planned. Had a shower, read awhile - not a great book. Dog sitter dropped into to pick up cheque and she talked a lot and long.:whacky: Took dog for a very slippery walk. Made apologies and new appointments for missed ones for my dentist and massage therapist d/t my sudden travel. Sorted desk (papers and documents from funeral and travel). To Curves for about 45 min. And here I am at 6pm. To come - putting food that is outside in the cold into the freezer - has started to snow heavily. Start about 8 loads of wash (I live alone!!). Eat supper, tidy and sort sewing room - where everything sorted from other rooms has been dumped - while I watch the Golden Globes. Up and down the stairs moving laundry to drier. I don't think I will get any vaccuming done as planned but will get the Christmas tree downstairs - to be reboxed later as will the decorations. Aiming to be in bed by 12

I cleaned my house (just for a man to give us a furnace estimate...) He said my house looked like a show place..(but he didn't look under all the furniture where all the squeekies are hidden..hee hee... :bg:)
Well we'll have a new furnace, a/c on thursday....and less money...oh well..at least we'll stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter and it WON'T try and kill us...(hopefully). And the sticker shock wasn't 1/2 as bad as I thought...(perks for off season buying and the fact that we're having a mild winter too..or weird weather...whichever...).

Now if I could only win that darn lottery...it's 45 mil on wednesday...cross your fingers for me... :dave:

Sancin, Sorry to hear about your Mother's death. My prayers are with you.

Ninifav,

I forget where you said you were from but my sons all live in the Baton Rouge area, one in Prairieville and the other in Walker. I live in Kentwood, North of Hammond. The more time goes on the more I think God has blessed me with this hurricane. I know I'm crazy. I can complain about a few things like the kids not being close but for the good things that came out of all this is I'm out of Chalmette and that's what I wanted to do before the storm. The creditors are all working with us so that's a blessing, I will actually get all the money I paid in to the federal gov from the last three years and this year, I am able to make a SBA loan at 2½% for 30 years which I may be able to use to start my house now. My Mother's house and my house will be torn down at the local governments expense, and my family is safe. My husband is working since the week after the storm and since he's in construction his work is plentiful. I didn't lose as much as a lot of people I know and I still have my sewing things. I bought them with me, and what I didn't bring didn't get wet. So I really don't feel like my spirit was damaged. I do feel for all my friends some of them lost everything.  Anyone who moves back down there after this hurricane has to ask themselves how are they going to handle the next one. Because there is going to be more of them and our levee's aren't made to handle over a cat 3. Thanks for being a friend and wishing me well.

No computer, no sewing machines, they tell me it gets really bad with lightning out here so it's unplug everything until it's all clear again. so..............goodnite and I'll see everyone again when it quits raining.

Looking at the time as yesterday, Magot, I wonder what time you found this out. I rarely seem to dream as I sleep poorly, but last night I did have a dream about standing in front of a class for a final exam and having to excuse myself while I left to both put the big exam together and then print it only to find a line up at the copier!!

Thanks, MIL. While my mother's passing was somewhat of a blessing it is a struggle to realize, even in one's advancing age, that one is an orphan. I have missed her for many years.

This something I am going to have to get use to here in the country. When it rains we lose power and my neighbor poor thing is on the same line in as me for the phone system and I don't lose my phone but she does. Everytime it rains she at my door looking to report it to the phone company she's out of service. We have static but our phone works.

Hey Kath (((hugs))) back at ya. You're getting our rain now I see. It was hard around here this morning I lost power for about 30 minutes this morning and woke up to the smoke alarm churping. It goes off when we lose power in shorts beeps, just enough to anoy (sp?) you. Sorry Patsy and everyone else who needs rain. Rain has been scarce here also but we've had it about 3 times since we moved here in Oct. So it's been a dry winter for this area which gets more for this time of year.

I found out today we are not getting the SBA loans, my hubby just started back working for hisself before the storm and they won't give us the loan because of this. So we are up for the grant. I'd rather have the loan. :bluesad:

Believe it or not they are getting more and more people back to Chalmette now and the place is getting more and more businesses back. WalMart is suppose to open soon, not as big as it was but a smaller version so people can get groceries and the staples for living without having to go 30 miles to get things. Home Depot is suppose to open also this month. My oldest son is gutting his house and moving back, it's home he says and all his business conections are there so he's going back. My middle son signed the papers on his 4 acres of land here close to us today. He's excited about that, he's the son that has the goats out here by me and is staying in a fema trailer for now. My youngest son is talking about moving back to Chalmette also. He's my baby son and he's the one I worry about the most. He's on his own now with his 12 year old son and I'm really worried about him. My oldest is keeping him working for him right now and he sees him everyday so for now I'm not going out of my mind worrying about him being out there alone. He's got his big Brother there close. He's 27 years old but he's the one that was in rehab and I'm not sure if he's okay or not. Just keep him in everyone's prayers please.

Thanks Kath but that's Raymond's department to handle this mess. I'm not good when it comes to arguing with people he has a way of handling people when it comes to money. She did say she didn't have the final say in the matter so maybe it can be worked out we'll have to wait and see. But with my luck it won't work out for us. There were a few Senators from all over the country who came to our area today and was upset that nothing is getting done here. They say La was hit harder than MS and MS has 31000 fema trailers and New Orleans has 1700 and it's been 4½ months since the storm. The money is tied up in red tape it seems and they are trying to cut it so we can get the ball rolling on starting to rebuild this place back. Thanks again for the offer but I'll let him handle them, he's good at that sort of stuff. Me I just get aggrevated or  mad and start crying.

I hear ya. I've been blessed really so far. If this is the only thing that doesn't work out then I'm okay. I'm a very passive person and feel that if it's for ya to have something it will work out if it's not for you then all the yellin and cusin in the world is not going to help, although sometimes I'd love to take a stick and beat the tar out of someone, I realize after the anger goes away that's not the best thing to do. :re: And then sometimes I'd like to kick myself in the butt for not sticking up for myself more. I guess I'm wishy washy. LOL Again thanks. I think our parish president has done enough bashing Fema for all of us. He told the deligation today from the Senate that he's ready to throw Fema our of the parish. He's a big fella and he can do it physically. :bg: I think what has happened is this catastrophe is bigger than anyone can handle...........Fema, the feds, the state and local gov. it's so big that they are left dumb founded and don't have the manpower to take the handle and follow through. You really have to see everything to understand how devestating it really is down here. It looks like an atomic bomb went off. And the starting of the clean up is making a bad situation worse.

Susie,
Am I hearing right that they are STILL finding bodies in the remains? That is very sad. I'm sure they have that many who have not been ID'd yet! Will they ever be.
When is the Government going to wake up and admit that they are in over their heads with this one.

Yes they are still finding bodies in the rubble. Some of the bodies will never be found. They went out to sea with the tidal surge I'm afraid. The bodies they are finding are bodies that are trapped inside homes that are in heaps and piles of rubble that couldn't be checked before now. Alot of the bodies are in the attics of houses that were flooded and the people climbed up there and either drowned or had heart attacks while they were in the attics. One part of New Orleans has been closed until now to the owners to the houses because it was not accessable so that's where most are being found. It's sad to see it in real life and not in pics. It looks like a bomb went off looking at the damage. Houses are in the middle of the streets, and some are several streets over. So you can amagine coming back to find a house that you knew your grandmother stayed in and then you can't find the house where it was. Very heartbreaking.
