:bang: I just got an Ultimate Box Plus. I follow every instruction in the manual for connecting the USB cable and loading the driver, and nothing happens. Nothing. When I do a cnt-alt-del to see what processes are running, it shows that the program is not responding.

I thought maybe the cd was defective, so I downloaded the USB driver from the Secrets of Embroidery website. Unzipped it, tried to load it...nada. Same thing. Not responding.

Any suggestions?

I am wondering if your computer is not liking the program. I have the same problem with my hubbys MP3 player, if I try to upgrade the driver, my whole computer freezes and certain things start 'not responding'. After doing a search on Microsoft, its something to do with the drivers. Have you tried to get on to the Ultimate tech support and see if they can help you? Is your computer compatible with the program?? Did you have a virus program running while you were trying to install the program - that can also mess you up. Good luck, I hope you get it going before you decide to throw the computer out the window!

Well, it took about 8 hours of frustration and a 3 hour phone call to our friend the computer guru, but it's now working fine. In the meantime, we had to deinstall and reinstall a bunch of stuff, including Microsoft Outlook Express and my anti-virus software. And reload all the microsoft updates. It's been a 3 day project!!!

We decided it's time for a new machine anyway. We'll will this dinosaur to the kids for thier games, and I'll get a shiny new computer with more memory and Windows XP. Happy dance. :)

Maureen... sounds like a great excuse for a new computer to me.. << > > the Ultimate Box Plus is the latest UB and will work with the latest version of Embird... YOu can load designs right from Embird directly to your UB without any monkeying around... and the great thing about the UB is that your only limit is stitchcount,.. not the number of designs.... much better in the long run in my opinion... have fun!!! :bg:
