can somebody advise me on the kind of fabrics used to make stoles... also, the measurements...
plus... what kind of embellishment do you suggest  ... just something simple... i've seen stoles with a kind of beaded edging (bugle beads and ghunghroos) and some lace trim...

I used chiffon to make a stole for my daughters wedding, I just purchased enough of the fabric to be the width of the stole, which I think was around 24 inches, then I did a rolled hem around it and hand beaded randomly around the ends only. I also did another one for an Indian wedding to wear on my head, in chiffon as well, but i pulled the threads out across the bottom, creating a fringe, took a while, but looked fine, then sewed a straight stitch along just above the fringe to hold it from unravelling any more. I would think that even some of the same fabric that you are using for your outfit would even work. Or a silk or even some of the knits that are out there are a light enough weight.
