Hi all-Laura thank you for your support-all of you in fact. It's back to the drawing board for me-the seamstress wasn't clear about what to do & only tried to get more seam space in the lining & corselette, not the dress. I think all those layers confused her. SO, I am letting out the sides on top again-I can buy 3/4 inch total between the both sides, which, God willing, will work. That, and add the bias binding to the top. Laura, I will just sew it to the right side, fold over & hand sew to the back-no topstitching.
She did have a great idea tho-she said the new undergarments, like the one my daugher bought, are slippery-they're seamless & smooth but can make the dress slip down esp. if it's silk lining. She said they put velcro on the corset & inside the top of the dress where it won't show, & it helps it stay up and not slip down. Yep, we're gonna try that too.
So again, thanks for your encouragement-I feel like I have a great new group of friends to bolster me ! What an emotional time-this wedding business !
