How is rick rack supposed to be applied? Do you top-stitch it as a finishing touch, or do you sew it into a seam? I'm winging it here, and I've basted it onto my fashion fabric, planning to sew on the lining, turn it inside out, and somehow get it right. It seems that if I apply it this way around any curves, it will buckle when I turn it right side out. Votes of confidence, anyone?

there are different ways to sew rick rack. You can top stitch it going down the center, you can hand stitch & tack each point down & you can sew it in a seam. |

I've put rickrack around a childs outfit Butterick 3846bk and it didn't buckle anywhere, it was put in between the fabric and the lining turned out really cute.

I love rick rack on children's clothes - especially the jumbo sizes. But I always have trouble getting the rick rack in just the right place on the seam line to make it even once the garment is right side out. However, I have recenly discovered the joys of Wonder Tape - fabulous stuff - and I am ready to tackle another project and rick rack it out.![]() emermuffin
