Hello, can anyone tell me if there would be a reason I cannot get the bobbin to thread on my machine. I've been playing with it for over an hour and cannot get the needle to catch the bobbin thread and bring it up. Thanks for any help.

Do you have it in the correct way...??? some go clockwise , some go counter clockwise. Usually the 'window' on your bobbin case/race (that you lift up) has a diagram on it. If not, try the side opening on your machine (where the needle goes up an down, sometimes theres a diagram in there...
Then theres always the manual....also make sure your have your TOP thread threaded correctly...the newer machines WANT the presser foot to be UP when you thread the machine.

Is your needle in all the way? If it has been in a while, it may have slipped. Is it a different brand/type than you normally use. There are some brands of needles that are not standard length. If you have a machine that requires the longer/shorter needle, that could be the problem. Is the flat part of the needle facing the correct direction? (Most insert the flat part to the back, but there are some variations on that.)

What you have is a timing problem. Either the machine is out of adjustment, the bobbin is inserted incorrectly, maybe it is going the wrong direction or it isn't under the spring on the case, or the needle is all wrong.

Do you have a drop in bobbin or a bobbin case that you put in the machine? If it's bobbin case do you put it in the front or the side of your machine?

Make sure your needle is good and inserted properly.(If the machine is less than 50 years old make sure it is a 130/705 or 15x1 needle)
Make sure the machine is properly threaded.
Without knowing which machine you have thats about as specific as I can get but unless the hook is out of time it is most likely one of those two problems.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

whenever my machine can not get the needle to catch the bobbin thread and bring it up, i will loose all the parts in the bobbin case and reinstalled them, then it's ok.
