I have a Babylock Ellure, and I'm still getting to know it. It's fun. A problem, however: The needle thread will occasionally get all tangled in the bobbin. It's a hairy mess to get the hoop and fabric off the machine to get to the knotted mess. What could be the problem? I thought it was because I was using an off-brand bobbin, or not the best thread, or prewound bobbins, so I went back to good bobbin thread on my Babylock bobbins. It happened three times on a project I'm trying to salvage right now. It's a simple design on a thinner sweatshirt. I started with sticky paper as the stabilzer, just hooping the paper, and sticking the shirt to it. That was a disaster. Then I went to iron-on tear-away. Hooped both the shirt and stabilzer together. No luck on that either. Complete newbie here, so be easy on me! Maureen |

When that happens it is always best to re thread teh machine. The bobbin and the upper thread. There could be other things. Like a burr on the needle. a burr on the needle plate or a bur on the coccin shuttle.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Along with Aimee's reply... if not one of those items it could be low quality thread or a damaged bobbincase. Remove the bobbincase and inspect it for nicks or needle holes. Aimee's suggestions would be my first bet though ie bad needle or misthreading.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

I can only use one kind of bobbin or mine does that also. The bad part is I can't find the one kind of bobbin, and I only have one. So I have to keep winding that one. It could also be the upper tension is not correct. Christina |

I hoop everything rather firmly and just use a regular tear away and I have not tried the iron on tear away as yet but I have not had any problems on knits, sweats or Tee's. Is the iron on stabilizer a lighter weight? |
