Don't you just Love this sewing show, I do. They have lots of great ideas. If you ever saw the chineese gift box, they are really cute. I found an easier way to make these boxes and the sewing is much (better) than what they showed on the show. Also a (big short cut) in making them. Same as the material bowls. You get a small chineese box from a restraunt, draw out the complete design after unfolding the box of coarse. You cut out a front and a back add two layers of the stablelizer inbetween,I buy the thinner type it is cheaper and this is why I use two, Then you draw out your sew lines. Easy as that! Sew shorter zig zag on all the lines.Thier way they cut out alot of pieces to sew together. You don't have to. You can fill them with candy,or make alittle purse. I have made afew things from the show. Some times you may get lucky and find a better, shorter way to do certian patterns. I saw Fons and Porter sewing show and they had great shows. I never ever did chain stitching untill I watched them and I though I always took the long way about putting my stuff together,Quilts!! I did make a Mexican cross quilt they showed on television. It turned out nice took ayear to put together. Because I sat it aside doing other stuff I wanted to try! Family thought I wasn't going to finish it but I did. Some-times you may need a break inbetween making quilts. I think thats apart of why we get UFO's! I've only made one quilt in aday, thats just the top. It was a twister game quilt for my newfew. I drawed out my hand print and used fusiable web, then stitched around them ,I drew big dino eggs for the feet! I have a janome 9500-Love it I have a janome long arm-Love it I have a king size little Gracie quilting frame- I don't like it at all.It is stored away. I sew on large desk up against the wall with a Side table. I rather quilt any day at desk then use that dang little Gracie. The store I bought my long arm from also bought a little gracie ( they stored their off their floor) comes with no instructions or lessons. I had bought my little gracie else where. I Love to embroider,I'm learning abit about digitizing my patterns. You can digitize any pattern you want once you learn this. I use coloring books, clip art. I need to take a class on this in the future. Trouble I'm having is putting the stitches to the pattern. It's not easy to learn this at all. I just finished a tumbling block. My daughter also finished a tumbling block top sent it to mom to quilt! I enjoy it, She is one lucky gal! It usually takes me three days to quilt a king size. Hers turned out alot better than mine. all her points match my did not but it still looks nice. It took me three weeks to make it. I sew 8 or better hours each day. I made a family tree photo quilt top I haven't finished it yet, the quilting. I found out early on using a ((large free standing thread stand ))works best for me I use the large spools of thread. I also get agreat deal on all my threads $3.00 - $4.00 for large spools. I buy my thread from a guy who only sells threads,a private store owner in S.C. It's like going into a fabric store so many colors to choose from. Go in there and come out with every color you could imagine $150.00 worth each time, not often because you get alot for the price. I go once ayear! cotton, rayon, nylon, ect. All my best to everyone Cathy |

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, I'm a busy quilter. I finished my tumbling block king size quilt. I washed it and it faded some,go figure 1 out of 20!! with great dissappointment not learning the lesson wash fabrics first. Some-times the results of cheaper fabrics from wally world will do this. Though you have to work with what you can afford. Be more careful of the fabics you choose. I don't wash my fabrics because I don't know off hand what I'm gonna use or make and the extra ironing is pain in the butt! I finished quilting a queen size tumbling bock and a queen size log cabin for my daughter. They turned out really nice. Although, I still have to quilt around the boader of the log cabin. I'm no professional quilter,I'm happy with my set standards! LOL! We both had a good giggle over the set standards. I know I'll never receive any Ribbons! Unless I give myself one ! I would share pictures of my quilts if I knew how to do that here. off the beaten path again, - I made pajamas today. All my best to everyone Cathy |

I have some rayon I bought about a year-and-a-half ago. I decided to make a night gown out of it using a dress pattern I picked up at buck sale. I prewashed it and now I only have enough for a T-shirt. Good thing I washed it first. Darn -- now I have to buy more fabric. Dorothy |

sorry to hear about the thread. I've never had any trouble with any threads. I buy mine in bulk from a thread mill in S.C. The Shipping is free! I try and stay away from the small shops, prices are way to high and over time they willl dry rot from the big roll over sales they do!! you can usually get what they have at other places and much much cheaper. Gotta Love all those sale pitches though! I get most my threads when they come right out of the mill. All my best |
