Just got my spring Ottobre in the mail. There is the cutest little girl's coat in there. It has triangular pockets with roses on them. Coat is made with felted wool or fine fleece. They recommended the blind hem stitch along all edges to give it a slightly scalloped edge. This makes it look soooooo feminine. I love it. Unlined and very simple to make.

Also some really cute boys jeans. They used the wrong side of the denim for contrast pieces. Loads of jackets for boys too.

I finally broke down and ordered a subscription so anxiously awaiting my first magazine!!! I loved the single one I had purchased. Such cute stuff for the kids that you can't really find anywhere else.

I think I'll be right behind you, I love their magazine, and really, it's less costly to get the subscription rather than one at a time. I got the kwik sew books for kids, but I was kind of disappointed in them, I think I was expecting more of an Ottobre feel to them, though they do have nice basic stuff in the books.

I like their patterns, but I wish they would show more of their stuff with older models (ie 12 year olds) a lot of the patterns go that large and larger but it is hard to convince my 9 yr old how it would look in age appropriate fabric for him (he really didn't like the acid green and blue, I thought it was really trendy)
The patterns are great, they fit together well, no fiddling required.

Mary, I loved that little jacket too and so does my 5yo. The flowers on it are the big hit. I'm thinking of making it up with fleece (more stash to get rid of). Would be nicer in wool but I think it will still be cute.
I absolutely love this magazine. I can't wait for the adult size one to come, I don't make enough stuff for myself.

It will be beautiful in fleece, the pockets and hood really make the coat!

Hi to Everyone:

I am a newbie to the forum and to sewing, but have been bitten by the sewing bug. Do you think that someone new would be able to make the clothing items based on these patterns?

Thanks!

Tracing off the patterns can be a bit daunting. There are many sizes of each pattern. The instructions are a bit scarce in places. They take it for granted you already know how to sew. If there is a specific method of doing something they will illustrate that method.

Hello Nicole Sewing and all the other ladies,

Wait untill you will see the Ottobre Woman.
At a first glance you will think what is this??? But read then the editorial letter at the first pages.
This Ottobre Woman is filled with basic patterns. It will learn you to combine and draw your own patterns from the patterns in the magazine. It starts with these basic patterns for to give you the basic wardrobe and from their to expand into something you want more. This will be build up in a gradually way.
E.g. When you see a jacket with a pocket and ruffles around them at one jacket but you like the form of the other one more, then you can take the pocket with ruffles from one jacket to the other one and so is it that with the Ottobre Woman (and also ofcause with the Ottobre Design) you are helped with your creativity in making beautifull clothes.

I hope that I am clear with what I say. Otherwise ask me and I will try again to explain what I mean to say.
With kind regards,
François
