My dh got me a very cool birthday present yesterday.

It is quilting software called Electric Quilt 5: Complete Quilt Design Software

Does anybody here use this software?

Yes, I have it. It's great to see how different block combinations will go together, how much fabric you'll need, printing paper piecing patterns, etc. It's also really cool how you can put your exact fabric in so you can really see what it will look like.

Have fun with it!

Yep, me too. I got it sometime last year but haven't been using it to it's capacity yet. Basically just designing blocks and putting them into a quilt. Have designed a quilt for my sister...it helped me calculate the am't of fabric that I need. But it is still on the computer...hasn't gotten to the cutting and piecing stage. Since I got my scanner working recently, I have just learned how to scanned and import my own fabrics. This is what I want to try more.

The EQ site has a forum where you can ask questions and get help etc. I've read some of the posts. I found a website that gave lessons and tips on using EQ5. I'm at work now and have the link at home. I'll try to remember to post the link later on tonight.

Here's the link to the site that I mentioned. This lady is definitely an EQ expert!

Between SWN and EQ5....I can spend so much time on the PC that I have no time for making the quilts....:bg:

I love the EQ5 website link. Your right she is a EQ5 expert. I hope to install it on my computer this weekend and play around with it. I have a quilt to finish and I think I might scan in the material and play with it.

Jan thanks for the belated birthday wish. My DH also got me a couple of tools for my spinning. One measures wraps per inch and the other is a yarn meter, so I can measure how much yarn I have spun. I love the way he shops for me. He will ask me what I would like and I give him catalogs with pages marked and the items circled. He then does his shopping from that. He does a great job.
