I wish I could take a vacation and get away from here for a few days.
(I'm tired of sick and dying ferrets.) Just sorta ill ferrets. (mites, eye infections etc) Cleaning up after ferrets (two of them like to dig out all the clean litter in the potty boxes, -3- of them...::heavy sigh::). I need to get away from a husband who can't/doesn't want to hear me. (but I have to listen to HIS rants from work every day). I want to get away from all this pollen. It's gotten so bad I can't go outside without long sleeves, shoes and a hat. ( I never wear shorts always pants) Even then I get hives, sneeze and my eyes itch. (every year it gets worse...I'm tired of it.)
I want to get away from Dr's who give me meds that make me sick, then call me a liar when I tell them.
I want to get away from neighbors who can't behave. (some are fighting, personally fighting, inside, not out in the street) Won't talk to you, because you're friends with the fightees. (I donno...it's been going on since last summer. Since I'm a non fighter. I have no idea whats going on, I just get the cold shoulder...oh well..)
I wish to see something NEW for a change. Not the same old places, same old food, same old people...(the same mystery stereo...yes it's STILL playing only NOW more people hear it, but we can't find it.)

I wish Scotty were still alive to beam me up....

Hey Chrys...you can always come to :Canada: to get away from it all. Temps today is to be a high of -10 C - no fleas, mites, pollen can live outside in this :bg:...although you would still have to be dressed up...in boots, parkas, hats, mitts, scarves, etc. The "great white north" will give a new meaning to the phrase "cold shoulder". And you will definitely get to do something new....like shovel snow, ice skate, freeze your b.... off. :bg:

Sorry, but I just had to jump in with the above. But seriously it sounds a bit like you have some of what we call the winter blues....just sick and tired of everything. Hope things improve for you.

Yep sounds like a case of the winter blues. I get them every winter except for the years I lived in Florida. Mine comes from lack of sunlight I believe which is why Florida was so good for me. I don't think there was a day that the sun didn't shine when I lived there.
You need a vacation to get away from it all. A change of scenery would be good for you. Maybe a trip to Canada is a little far but how about Arizona or New Mexico. Might give you a break from the allergies. I have two brothers in New Mexico who love it because there allergies are almost nil.

I know it wouldn't be like "getting away" but what about a couple of spa treatments or just a pedicure/manicure or 1-hour massage (I tried hot stone - didn't like it  , swedish massage/deep tissue - wonderful :bg: ) or maybe just a hair wash/style (let someone else do the work, maybe they do scalp massages - there the best!). It's not selfish to sometimes do something for "you" (even a little something is better than feeling your blood pressure rise). If nothing else, you can let go of the world for a little while.
Hope your spirits begin to lift........

Chrys, I suggest an Ouzi, 9mm......(kidding - a vacation in the state Pen is NOT what you require....)
We have been catless since our last went missing when we were on holiday - I can't face getting another one, they seem to disappear so quick yet I love my moggies. They always seem to get ill/disappear/headbut cars when we are away which traumatises their carers.

you've got the New Dr Who soon, take a trip in the Tardis - almost as good as Scotty.

Have you ever taken a mini vacation on your own or with a girlfriend? Some people don't believein them, but I think they are easy to justify and can recharge a person and help her get new perspective or develop a plan to get out of the dumps. I'm sorry you're feeling crummy. ((you))

AWWWWWEEEE Chrys, What you need is a good trip over to east coast of Florida, Maybe to Disney World. Maybe if just for the weekend. If you can't do that then try checking into a motel somewhere right there in your town just to have a change of scenery. We use to do that when the kids were little, we'd get my Mom to keep them and just go across town and check in a motel, have dinner out somewhere like we were tourist. Take a walk in the French Quarters just like the tourist do, you'd be surprised at how much we learned about our fair city that way. And after the weekend was over we felt like living again. Refreshed. Winter blues in Florida??? Maybe the blues but never the WINTER blues. ROFLMAO Sorry Chrys you feel so bad

Hey Chrys I can sympathize. I've been down all week and don't really have a clue why. No ferrets here, no ranting dh, just a dirty house i'm sick of cleaning and can't really find something I want to do. I spent most of the day in Ocala today at the new Hobby Lobby. Now that was a fun time. Got some .99 Simplicity patterns and a couple of other things. It wasn't the shopping it was the change of venue!!! Ate lunch out, went to Sams Club and didn't cook dinner when I got home! Some days i just take myself to the movie and have a couple of hours in the dark. Great place to get away from everyone. I hope you find something that will cheer you up. If you want to talk email me and we'll grouse together.

Geeze..it all sounds nice...I was just hoping you'd all wish for something too.
I don't want to be a wet blanket or sound depressed. I just wish I could get away sometimes...and I think my neighbor and friend gave me the answer today. Join the new YMCA (and yes I CAN do the moves to the music) downtown and workout with her...since I can't be outside...I think thats a winner of an invitation. (besides I met someone who works there and he's OH SO GOOD to look at :bg: )

Oh you Bad girl!!!!!!!! :dave:

Glad something stirred you up.

Okay if I have to wish..............I wish...............My friend Kathi can get out of her depression and come have some fun with me next week. And I wish..............I can have just one peaceful week away from the kids and grandkids with me doing what I want when I want to how I want. And then I wish..............hubby would come home one day and say let's start building the house because someone bought the place in Chalmette for what we are asking. Oh is that a big WISHFUL thinking. ggggggggggg

There you go Chrys. You're not the only one wishing now.

Can I wish with you girls?

I wish DH would get around to remodeling my sewing room so I can get all of the piles sorted out and put away somewhere. I wish the next 18 months will go by faster than they actually will so I can retire and be free to play all day long instead of work.

I tend to get depressed and feel grumpy when my house gets piled up and disorganized.

And one more wish - I wish DH would concede that our house is too small and that we need more room and help me look for a bigger house.

I wish... I had a smaller house and less stuff. OK I know that you all think I am crazy now. I am just sick and tired of having to clean this big house and with all the crap we have it never looks clean after I am done.
I wish... my cat would use the litter box instead of spraying my curtains, fabric, and blankets and jackets that the kids leave on the floor.
I wish... I could afford to put floor to ceiling built-in book shelves on all the walls in my downstairs living room. While I am at it a custom built sewing room where everything matches would be nice too.
I wish... there was a way to get rid of my fireplace without my roof tumbling down. When it gets cold here all my heat goes straight out the chimney. I can't just cover it because it is not built into a wall, it is a two story tall pillar that stands next to my stairs. It would look awful silly unless I could get those book shelves built around it.
I wish... I had more time to sew.
I wish... I could find a job that is flexible and close to home that doesn't require me to flip or serve burgers.

That I would win the $102 Million Dollar lottery tonight, I don't play very offen, but it would be great if I could!!!!
Once I have money on hand, I will be planning the BIGGEST BASH for ALL my sewing buddies here!!!!!! Do you want a Cruise, Vegas, Bahamas, all the above? How about new machines for everyone!!!!!! And of course your very own State of the Art sewing rooms to go with them!!!!!

I wish ...........someone would pack up our garage for the move to FL. I know my dh isn't going to get around to doing it until the last minute (he's gotta do his workshop too). He needs to get the tractor out so I can get to stuff that's going with us (like my farm table that will be our new kitchen table).
I wish............my dh wasn't such a procrastinator. :bang:
I wish............I could take a nap right now.
I wish............getting my nursing license for FL would be easier  (my NJ nursing boards were easier than filling out all this paperwork) - geez!

I wish....for my young nephews to have courage as they become men this hard week, so that they can help hold their family together.
I wish....to be free of snow tomorrow, so that I can be there to hold them in my arms. They'll always be about three to me, even if they're 11 & 14.

Hey Gina (Pudge)...if you can't close off your fireplace or put anything in front of it, put some plastic/plexiglass , like / inside. Tape one end to the front and have the back end at the back of the fireplace so it blocks the air.
I can't tell what your fireplace looks like from your discription. (there are sooo
many designs these days.)(my sister hated her corner fireplace, so she got some canvas, made a 'curtain' and painted it. She can draw and paint)

I wish that Sewhappie takes me to the Bahamas when she wins the lottery.
I wish my sister sells me her Artista for really really cheap (can't ask for a freebie, got that already)
I wish we could buy a house that was on a 1/2 acre and it had a shop on it for DH, and BIG windows so I can keep checking out the yard
I wish I had more time to sew
I wish my stupid computer would do the things I want it to, rather than locking up and being stubborn.
I wish that each and everyone of you have an absolutely lovely Valentines Day no matter who you spend it with, even if its just with the cat or dog.

Well you could do what we did a couple of times, move states :bg: . And we didn't like Florida, I was more depressed not having those season changes that I learned I so loved, and way too many people living way to close together for us :bluesmile Now we have been in Indiana for almost 3 years, and have been thinking have changing to another state again, we must be crazy I know :nc: But seriously when I get in your mood I run away! Go find a nice place to go, whether a hotel, a spa, someplace you can go for a few days to relax!! Last summer it was a week back home to Kansas for me to see old friends, last weekend DH & I just went to a large city, beautiful hotel, locked ourselves in our room ordered up room service & movies, and enjoyed peace, sleep, and relaxation! :bg:

Hello Gina

Was wondering about your fireplace. Mine has a damper that can be closed when not in use. Does yours not have one? If not, then Chrys' suggestion sounds like a good solution.

Hope your day is bright and cheery.

I wish I'd win the lottery here too... hmmm.... pretty hard to win if I never buy a ticket. Don't you just love planning what things you could buy for other people? Should be a priority to get one today.
I wish I hadn't learned so many bad habbits from my bipolar hoarding mother (gotta love her). The little piles of crap are starting to pile up again. It stresses me out! I like things very organized and tidy but I have a really hard time with paper (school notices, interesting flyers, catalogues, magazines...), getting rid of it for me is tough. I think I'm already passing this on to my 5yo, she doesn't want to throw out a thing.
I wish I could figure out this whole computer/ camera download business. I know I will one day.
I feel a little guilty complaining so I have to add that I know I really am so lucky and blessed in my life. Our next door neighbour's two year old little boy died a little over a year ago, it puts everything in perspective.

Chrysantha,

Let me say I am truly sorry for what you're going though..

I also suffer from Allergies, Asthma due to Allergies and a skin condition that I have had all of my life, which I can only keep under control.

for my allergies I found that Zyrtec works best, But It is so high, I have been unable to buy it for 8 months now, and my allergies is screaming about it..

Right now I am taking Bendrill, which doesnt really do a thing.. but slow it down for a short time.

I have tried all of the other meds, Allegra, Claritin and all the other prescription drugs, and over the counter meds also.. None work for me but the Zyrtec.

having eyes that itch, nose that is either sneezing, stuffy, runny, or stuffy & runny is enough to drive anyone batty..
and then throw into the mix, a Dh and pets that have problems no wonder your on the edge.

Just dealing with the Allergies is all one person can take at a time, and no one seems to understand that then someone else with the same problem.

Chrysantha, NM or AZ would be a wonderful place to visit, My mom lives out in AZ and my grandmother in NM.. when I go there.. My Allergies are all but gone.. Just a climate change makes you feel wonderful!!
It does make my skin worse, dry air.. but ohhhhh to be able to breath!!
But I have hard that AZ is changing, due to everyone moving there and bring with them plants from the state they lived in.
still its so nice for once in your life not to have allergies!

I am finding that I have to use my puffer more often this year then ever before, when I back to the Dr next month.. I am hoping they will put me on that new meds for allergies and Asthma, so I don't' have to use the puffer everyday.
hopefully My skin will behave and feel better soon..
I have extra dry skin, on top of my Atopic Dermatitis & Eczema Plus you have to factor in my allergies, one of which I many lotions and oils I am allergies too.
Mainly its the petrolatum and mineral oil they put into lotions. So If I itch the dry skin, I usually end up with broken skin..
I can keep the skin under control with a med called Topicort, but our insurance will not cover the drug anymore.. and I have to find something cheaper, which doesn't work as well.. but right now I cant even afford that.. so I have been using over the counter hydrocortisone cream..
which helps a little, but is not controlling the outbreaks..

hopefully with the new insurance we have for this year, I can get my problems take care of at least for the short term, before he is laid off and we are without insurance again.

So take care of yourself!!
and PM me if you wish.. I will help out if I can

No..No..don't feel sorry for me...put up YOUR wishes...
I've been on allergy meds since I was a yr old. None of them work for me anymore. (I take 2 Benadryl at night to control hives I might get during the day.) Thats why I'm inside all the time..I just get to feeling cabin fever, and I gotta LET go. So heres where I talk. This is the only site I belong to, that I talk in...the rest I just lurk...I'm fine...really.. [[[ ]]]

(and I know what you mean about ins...seems the Military has decided that we need to pay more for our 'retiree' ins...double in fact. If they don't carry our prescriptions at the base, and we have to get them 'outside' (local pharmacy) then we have to pay for them ourselves...very nice...since the last time I needed meds, ( I had 5 prescriptions) and they only had -1- at the base, I would have had to pay (and might soon) $1000. for 4 presciptions. Very nice...the government...take from the working poor to give to the NON working rich...(Congress, Senate, President, etc...)

Kath's 11 cents.... :bang:

You know I know people are desperate for those fema trailers but seems to me that setting up those things and purchasing them is a waste. They can only stay in them for 18 months, so what is the goverment going to do with all these trailers that are mostly trashed by the time the 18 months are up. I know they must have paid 19000 or close to that for each one, why not give that to the people so they can go buy something to live in and they are done with the person and won't have a trailer to store or dispose of. Wasted money if you ask me. When this is over, mostly everyone will get money if they had any personel property so why not give them their money so they can rent/buy or something to live in permently. Then they wouldn't have had to buy the trailers. You should see the sea of trailers all over the place down here. And everytime you get on the interstate highway there is plenty of them going down the highway on the way to some staging area. Then they have to pay the driver to deliever them there and then pay someone else to bring them where they are going to be set up for tenants. They are paying men to spot the trailer, then someone to inspect the trailer, then someone else to hook up the trailer once it's in place, then someone else to come out and let the occupant sign papers for the trailers. Seem wasted gov. money to me.

Chrys That's my 4 cents worth :nah:

Susie,

Sounds like the $5000.00 screw driver that the Government needed to me!!!!!!!!

Hey Chrys, How about we do a week at the beach in a Cabana (STUD BOY included) with a never ending supply of Bahama Mamas. Just enjoy the "VIEW" and relax by the Ocean. Okay, I know you live there already, BUT we can surely change up the scenery some!!!!!!
Susie doesn't have a pool yet, I'm sure that she would be there!!! And Jan, we can't forget her!!! She'd most likely swim the BIG POND just to get here for the sights!!!!!!!!

They sell the trailers. My daughter brought one in Homestead. 3 bedroom. She had to do some work on it but she got it for $5,000 and put in new flooring, painted the inside and a few other things. Her dad and her did the work. Ahe told me it cost about $3,000 to fix. Its paid for and all she pays is her lot rent.

Down here in FL...after all the BIG hurricanes, they SOLD the trailers at auction for whoever wanted'em. Instead of keeping them for others.
I think they'd do better, BUYING mobile homes, we have thousands here.
Setting them up for rent, or letting people BUY them. (with ins money or low interest loans) Of course making sure they're on HIGHER ground first.
The government is run by men who have NO logical thoughts, they can't think ahead of their pants (I'm being nice you notice). If we could get a BUNCH of women like us to run things, things would RUN, on time, smoother and without spending money no one has. (instead of blaming people, using MONEY to do it, using money to SELL money (trailers that can be re-used), it's a merry-go-round of a circus...

What ya say girls...ya wanna run the country with me ??? I'm sure we could do MUCH better than what (who) is doing it now... :dave:

I do have a damper but even with it closed it still sucks all the heat out. I like that plexiglass idea.
Here's a picture of it. Fireplace (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/<email address removed for privacy>/detail?.dir=/7f9d&.dnm=6694scd.jpg&.src=ph) It goes clear up to the second floor ceiling. Just like a pillar in the middle of my living room.

If you get a piece of plexiglass that fits the TOP of the fireplace, you can just wedge that stuff in the top and no one will see it.

If money grew on trees then no one would have to work, no one would need anything, everyone would have what they want, but then, there wouldn't be anything, because no one would be working to make what we need/want.
It's that merry-go-round effect....or chaos theory.

Besides...be careful what you wish for... :bolt:
