I saw the sales flyer and called the store. They're putting the table on hold for me - it's $59 - maybe I can pack this before my dh sees it!!! Wooo-hoooo!
As long as it's something I really want, I can be VERY patient (dh not included - rotflmao - ).

Wow, it's really heavy! I know I can use it now - but do I have the willpower to wait until FL?!

This Joann's sounds like a great place... perhaps worth a drive south across the border to load up! I got another quilting fabric catalogue in the mail yesterday (Keepsakes) and it looks like the same table but is $159.99! How is that possible? I met a woman up here at a craft sale that goes down to Joann's to buy all her chenille fabric at a fraction of what it costs here. I'm now thinking that it would be better to buy the ironing table cover down there rather than make my own, especially since it has the grid pattern on it. Even after paying duty, the fabric, etc, is still better price.

Jenny you'll like Jo-anns, their prices are way lower than our Canadian prices, and they are so similar to Crafts Canada used to be, but more fabric selection - way more. I've ordered on line from them and been quite happy with the result. Also, they have great coupons and you can sign up for the newsletter/coupons which I get all the time. I'm almost ready for another trip down.

Gosh, I had forgotten about Crafts Canada! I used to spend some of my lunch time breaks down town there browsing, but yes the fabric selection was way too small.
I'm itching to go now! I'll get on the mailing list today at least.

Joanns vary vastly from store to store. There is one about 20 miles from here that has almost no fabric to speak of and one 20 miles in the other direction that has a lot. Some of the bigger ones are fantastic.
Some aren't.

You'll get addicted to JoAnn's coupons pretty fast... :bluewink:
(I know I use one just about every weekend...today I got 10 yrds of purple (quilted one side...for my charity quilts.) 40% off. I saved over $30. just on the fabric.
If you buy whole bolts with $40-50% off coupons you REALLY save, they always have unadvertized sales too. Todays was batting on a roll for longarmers...our JoAnns used to be a mess, but about 3-4 yrs ago someone new took over and the fabric is great and the selection is outasight. (not to mention all the other goodies...scissors, ribbon, beads, cutting boards, hobby, knitting/crocheting yarn...etc...I love it now.)

I found you can use Joann's coupons at Hancocks, but only for cut items.

I have one of the folding cutting tables (I bought mine at Hancock's about 7 years ago) and you can't go wrong with those tables ladies, especially if you are limited to space in your sewing room/area. I have a 24 x 36 rotary cutting mat on each end and 2 of the 11 x 17 rotary cutting mats in the middle. If you don't use a rotary cutter, you can just use it like it is on the top.

I have the ironing cover on mine and the mats on top of that when I need them.

Yes, I finally got the table (on sale)! :bg: I put it together - it's bigger than I thought (and the height is great!). I haven't been able to put it to alot of use yet - I'm going to have to wait until we move to FL where I can set it up and leave it up. For now, I may move it into the bedroom and just open it up when I need it and close it up when it's not in use. I really like it though. I'm not much for getting gushy about something (my big downfall) but I'm happy with it.
The realtor came over yesterday and was amazed that we still had so much clutter still in the house (which is why I can't leave the table in the LR). She knew the house wasn't going to be ready to be listed yesterday but wanted to see what it looked like (she sold us the house but we did alot of work since then). She didn't know how much we still have to do though. I knew it was bad when she couldn't even come up with a price of what to list it at! My dh has a price in mind and I told him that he must be sniffing something if he thinks we're going to get that much for it (it's only a 2-bedroom cottage, 1 bathroom, almost .5 acre land).
I put the cutting table away so he can't use it as his "work table" - he wouldn't think twice of dropping tools on it and getting nicks in the surface. What good is a cutting table if it doesn't have a smooth surface? Given the chance he'd use it. It's like someone's husband using their expensive sewing scissors to cut up cardboard for trash day.

Maureen, too bad you weren't up here. A house like that would go for $350,000 easy and we are only in the Valley. If you were in Vancouver, you'd be closer to $500,000 or more! Good luck with getting the house ready, it's a huge job!
