I just happened to see the 8:30 a.m. (central time) version of Caroll Duval this morning and thought some of you knitters might be interested in this easy baby sweater pattern http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_needlework_knitting/article/0,1789,HGTV_3263_3298694,00.html I'm just a novice knitter so I'm going to give this a try this weekend. Very nice little sweater, thanks Patsy. It would be a good diversion when sewing just doesn't do the trick.

Just the thing for a beginner - you can easily pretty it up with ribbon around the edges - remember babies arms are shorter than you think and the body being wide takes up some of that width - don't over do the lenth in the arms.

Hows it going Patsy? Finished yet or ready to bundle up the knitting and throw it in the bin?

I just started the baby sweater on Friday night while I was watching the olympics. Got about 3 inches done on the back and haven't had time to pick it up again yet. Spent all day Saturday iced in so took the opportunity to clean my house and Sunday I spent most of the day playing with several Sun Bonnet S blocks that I had started. Oh well, I'll get back to my knitting one of these days. I've knitted about 15 of the eyelash scarves this winter so I'm pretty tired of them right now. Patsy Patsy

same as a shirt Mary. sew the shoulder seam together, open it flat, position the sleeve so that you have the same amount on the back and front of the garment with the centre of the seam lined up with the shoulder seam. Then sew the side and underarm sseam in one go. Babies proportions being what they are the sleeve may come half way down the body - makes a dropped shoulder seam - hence don't make the sleeves too long.

I did a good one yesterday. I was watching something on the tv and trying to sew up another sweater, then I couldn't figure out why it was so big, and realized I was missing a sleeve, I had sewn it into the body!! Duh!

Finally, I'm doing the finishing steps on the baby sweater!! It really is easy to make, it's just that I've knitted a row here and a row there as I've had a few minutes to sit down and knit on it. It has turned out pretty cute. I used one of the Baby Clouds yarns and it is kind of a bulky knit sweater but it will be warm for whatever baby ends up wearing it. I'll take a picture and try to post it when I have the ribbon trim on it. Patsy Patsy

As a matter of fact, I have finished knitting the baby sweater. I still have to crochet the ribbon around it and I'm finished. At the moment, however, I'm in the middle of making myself a new purse. Patsy Patsy
