I have gotten the patterns for the craft-style bunnies (stuffed muslin with long floppy ears and cute little dresses/outfits). I am planning on making a couple of them (my dd LOVES them) since I know the first one or two will be trial and error (french knots and embroidery thread!).
When using a pattern piece multiple times is it better to trace it onto some other paper or just be careful when cutting out the pattern piece itself? I was thinking of taping together 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of copy paper if it's better to trace (the pieces aren't too big). I want to take my time with this and do it the best way possible.
I guess I don't need to prewash the fabric since it'll only be surface washed?
Thanks for any help.
- Maureen.

You can either trace the pattern off onto something more stable or you can apply cheap fusible interfacing to the back of the pattern pieces. This will help keep them in good shape and more sturdy. I love those bunnies.

I never prewash and I sure wouldn't with this. They'll look prettier with the non-washed fabric.

Why not lay interfacing under your first bunny and cut it out as you cut the bunny. Then you'll have a permanent pattern. When you finish cutting, you can transfer your markings as you unpin the pattern. I'm a big believer in cutting corners where you can. YOu also won't have to deal with the tape getting old over time. Truly though, patterns can be used many times before they wear out, if you just fold them and put them back in the package. I don't usually trace patterns unless I have different sizes I want to save on the pattern or I want to cut multiple like pieces with the same layout.
