I have been happily sewing away and using a new marker for the first time. I LOVE it! I don't know where I bought it or when but it works great. It is a fabric marker from Marvy with an eraser. It marks in bright purple and says it will disappear in 2 - 14 days. Well, who is gonna wait. Besides I might iron right over it, then it is permanent. This marker has the opposite end as an eraser tip. Just dab it on the mark and it's gone. I love it!!! So, I am going to pick up a couple more to have on hand. Erasable Marvy Fabric Marker.

Thanks Mary for that advice. I hate the ones I have I always iron my seams as I go when sewing garments and I hate that I have to make sure all the purple pen or blue pen is gone before I can press. I'll try this one.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

That sounds good. I accidently ironed a spot on the snowboard jacket that still had marker showing, I hope it eventually disappears, though you really can't tell its there unless I point it out. I have one pen that fades so fast, by the time I get my centre marked for my embroidery hoop and get the fabric into the hoop the mark is gone. Threw that pen out after about 4 times of having to redo it. Did you get it online?? Laura

I have the same pen, and I do love it too. I've had it a few years and it seems to fade faster now than it used to, there is no way it would last 2 days now. It makes a nice clear line and has never stained any of my fabrics. I got mine at 'The Cloth Shop' here in Vancouver, not a chain store but the pens must be around. Mine is pretty close to the end of its life, I try to make it last and use it only when I really need to. Plain old water will also take the purple off, but the erasable end is good for erasing more detailed drawing errors. Jen |

I have 2 marking pencils - one is hot pink, and the other is silver. I have not had a problem with the marks staying, and I especially love the silver because it reflects the light. Judy Judy Sall Originals

I have problems finding something other than chalk that shows up on dark colors. Does the silver show on dark colors? Dorothy |

The Cloth Shop is 4415 West 10th Avenue, between Trimble and Sasamat Streets, heading out towards UBC. It is a very nice little shop with great quilt ideas but the fabric prices are a little high. You might want to call them to check if they have the pens still, especially if it is out of your way (604-224-1325). I try to avoid the store because I get caught up in how nice everything looks and spend a fortune. Jen |

??????? I iron over my purple disappearing-ink marks all the time. They still disappear. In fact, I think it makes them disappear faster. If they linger longer than I like, a dab of cold water makes them spread, look awful, then disappear like magic. I use ... whatever brand they sell at JoAnns, but have used several and never had any problems except with them being dried out when I go to use them again after several months. Something that works on dark fabrics (besides chalk) would be cool. Sparky
